Hi Brian, I absolutely agree about the company - it is essential for us that they exist and I do my very best to support them where I can; they are always my first port of call to look. For me, ease of availability (especially for our specialist parts) is the first priority and cost (within reason!!) is secondary. Nb - by "ease of availability", of course it's very much the consideration that for many of our specialist parts the company is the ONLY source! On the occasions that I order from Europa I often think ahead and include smaller things that I will need in the future, even things like Puralator fuel filter elements that are undoubtably available on Fleebay for half the cost but that I can't be bothered to look for. However there is a limit of course, when you read for example the hassle that the gentleman above has had over gas struts - he first explored the company route with no success and found an alternative available with a one click-next day delivery then that's a no-brainier. I must say though that in my experience I have always found the company (and Karen being the first point of contact) to be very available and helpful. We must remember they are a small cottage industry in a competitive market place performing a vital role in supporting a very small number of demanding people.....!! -------- G-TERN Classic Mono Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=465779#465779

Dear Europa pilots, France has been in a state of emergency since July 2015 which has been extended until July 2017. This has the effect that the Schengen agreement is no longer in force for cross border aircraft travel and all flights to and from France need to go through an "airport of entry". Make sure you have up-to-date information about airports of entry as the number has been reduced over the last 12 months due to government cuts. Once you are here though it is an easy system to navigate in and the ATC controllers speak good English and are generally very helpful. Don, Heather seems to recall 14 to 1. We cross Lake Michigan routinely. Just climb to at least 8000 ft and you'll easily be able to glide to the closest shore. We also fly north up the center of the lake going to the Upper Peninsula since you always are no more than 25 miles from the shore line. Obviously you need to be aware of your location and what the winds aloft are. We also wear life preservers. Ours are the type that look like suspenders and are manually inflated. Better to die from hypothermia than drowning :) . Jim & Heather Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=465786#465786

Have you considered measuring the glide ratio yourself, in your aircraft. The results are going to depend on your weight, finish quality of your paint, degree of out of rig trim drag, type of prop, etc, etc, etc. Since the Europa is not a factory aircraft, there really is no such thing as a standard value and over the years, many of the promotional values were simply aspirational for most builders. -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=465787#465787

Don. regarding your over water trip "We cross Lake Michigan routinely. Just climb to at least 8000 ft and you'll easily be able to glide to the closest shore" Dont forget the Europa has been demonstrated to float very well if it is ditched intact. Yes we had to enter and leave the Schengen area via a customs aerodrome. bu t we have had to do that when travelling from the UK ever since the Schengen agreement was introduced many years ago. Flying within the Schengen area was very easy all that seemed to be require d was a flight plan if you were crossing FIR boundaries. . I would just like to add my 2 pence worth to this thread. I do agree that it is better for us owners if Europa stay in business however, Europa as a company from MY experiences is all about 1 person........and that's Karen. She is you point of contact when ordering, she picks your order and then ships it, BUT when she isn't there whether she's on holiday or whatever then that's it! Phone doesn't get answered which means In essence there is no Europa. It's like Swift cant be bothered to pull on resources and put someone else in the chair to keep things moving. When this does happen what are owners supposed to do? Stay grounded? Stall on your build? Not acceptable If you do a search on the forum reference these gas struts, I started a thread looking at other sources for items and gas struts were one of the things lots of us wanted. One of the guys on here organised to go to SGS and do a group buy...........HOWEVER Karen then read the thread and contacted them to remind them that they should not sell to us as individuals. My thoughts on this were how dare she!! I should be able to spend my money with whoever and whenever I like. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=465803#465803

If we could fly in to Wombleton to get spares life would be so much easier. When John and Roger were running Europa, they used to meet us at the airfield clutching our spares!!! Now that was service with a smile Trev Pond - GLINN Sent from my iPhone > On 5 Feb 2017, at 09:55, JonSmith <jonsmitheuropa@tiscali.co.uk> wrote: > > > Hi Brian, I absolutely agree about the company - it is essential for us that they exist and I do my very best to support them where I can; they are always my first port of call to look.
