I understand the roof behind the doors is the best place, but then the flanges are on the wrong side. Also the fixation needs to be non magnetic and adjustable. Anyone thought of an elegant solution to all that? -------- Jeroen http://www.europaowners.org/main.php?g2_itemId=44165 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=466633#466633 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 11:22:12 AM PST US Subject: Europa-List: Routing of fuel lines through firewall From: "jglazener" The manual says you need to connect the fuel lines to the engine (very useful idea) but is a bit shy on explaining how. I assume they need to go through the steel sheeting but I cannot quite visualise how or where. I also assume some sort of anti-chafing is necessary. Any good suggestions? -------- Jeroen http://www.europaowners.org/main.php?g2_itemId=44165 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=466634#466634 ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 11:23:21 AM PST US Subject: Re: Europa-List: Position and mounting of EDC-D10A remote compass From: david park This works ok on my panel Dave Park > On 25 Feb 2017, at 19:14, jglazener wrote: > > > Looking for advice on how and where to put the remote compass. Make 2 diagonal cuts from corner to corner within the rectangle to form an 'X', then fold the 4 points at the 'X' intersection back on themselves to lie against the sheet. This will leave the edges smoothly rounded and not able to chafe the hose/s. Fill in the gaps around and between the hoses with flame retardant silicone. You should also secure the hose/s on one or both sides of the sheet to prevent them sliding back and forth through the opening. In later years I covered the rectangular hole and rerouted the two hoses via gaps at the top left and right corners of the stainless sheet. That worked well, since it is far away from any magnetic objects. I can't remember how the lay-ups were done with the bid when I made my own approved repair, nor when I had to repeat the process on both tailplanes after the mods were introduced. Too long ago! One thing became known at that time, which was that some people had enlarged the tailplane pip-pin recesses to their own requirements to do things like fitting flush and easily removable covers to the recesses. What this did in some cases was to increase the distance between the pip-pin head and the recess inboard sidewall, which would allow the tailplane to migrate off the drive pins if ever a bush disbonded again. Being ultra-cautious in such matters, I decided to create another line of defence by cutting and shaping little pieces of plywood to neatly fit the gap between the pip-pin heads and inboard sidewalls and bonded them in place with resin+flox. Thus there is no possibility for the tailplanes to migrate off the drive pins in the even of a disbond, provided that the pip-pins are in. To cover over the recesses in the tailplane tops, I use white adhesive tape. Trick is to lay in four sides with the cloth weave "square", then work down the corners by shrinking the cloth in to the corners. Repeat at a rotational offset of 45 degrees. I've never taken photos of my aircraft while I was building it. I guess that you should make your own plan for routing the fuel hoses to minimise risk of chafing and to allow for engine movement. Also to avoid passing the hoses too close to hot engine components. It seems that most builders make their own plans for such things.
