Failing that, does anyone in the UK or USA have a Maintenance Schedule that is approved by their respective authority and which they would be prepared to share please? From: "clivesutton" I have an open Mono trailer and I'm trying to put measures in place to ensure that if it broke down (rather than the towing car), it could be repaired/recovered Several breakdown agencies specifically say they won't recover if it is the trailer that breaks down, not the towing vehicle Does anyone have any steer on solutions please? Or have experiences/advice to share based on their own experience? From: Pete It's a pity the question is not for the north american folks.... as here we have a Recreational Vehicle club (Good Sam) which offers full coverage for a reasonable yearly fee ($80/yr) which includes trailers and tow vehicles even when 100's of miles away from a service station. From: "clivesutton" Thanks Pete, The main issue here in the UK is that if the towing vehicle breaks down, a recovery service will help you: either fix the vehicle, or to tow it and its trailer to home or a service depot. But if a hub or some part of the trailer structure breaks, the assistance is very muddy, some help, some won't. Not much help with a 45k trailer and a/c sat at the side of the Motorway . . . I'm hoping the Europa fraternity can offer some stories and/or useful advice about who to choose for UK/Europe recovery service, and who to avoid. regards, Clive. Clive, I have been towing my plane for 15 yrs, initially with an open Europa trailer but for something longer than 10 yrs with a covered one. I did have a problem with the Europa trailer where the webbing supporting the wing broke, but I didn't discover that until I got to where I was going. Otherwise I have had 3 punctures and no other issues. (The punctures probably related to old semi perished tyres!). So my advice would be to carry a spare wheel and the wherewithal to change it ( and if you have a twin axle trailer, a 3" deep bit of wood with a tapered end will let you get the good wheel raised far enough to get the punctured one off the ground). Otherwise a trailer is so simple that mechanical problems are so unlikely that I would feel it is not worth spending anything to insure against them. If you should have a seized bearing or whatever, then simply shell out a part of what you have saved on insurance by getting help from a local garage. Basically insurance isn't worth it if you can afford the loss - for sure they are making a profit out of you!)
