Interested to know if anyone leaves their Europa outside.
If so only summer or both summer and winter.

      Hi Graeme,

I'm fed-up of getting a numb bum during a long flight. Does you have this problem
with your seat? I'm really keen to find a solution, so any help (from anyone
on the forum) would be much appreciated.

I flew to Glenforsa for lunch a week or two back and that was 3.5 hours. Not very
      comfortable :-(

      All the best.
      Carl

I have a molded seat pan (plagiarized from an orthopaedic seat) covered with about
1" Temperfoam. It's just about OK on long flights, certainly better than unshaped
squabs. It would possibly be better is leather-covered, enabling the occupant
      to squirm and reposition occasionally.

Mine spent 15 out of almost 20 years parked outside in all seasons and all weathers
in Scotland. It was painted with twin-pack which has a few small osmosis
blisters to show for this cruel treatment. While parked outside, it was covered
totally by the best covers which money can buy, Jaxida.

The second set of Jaxida covers which I bought were made of a different and lighter-weight
fabric than the first. A few years ago there was very little sun to
be seen and it seemed to rain all year. Consequently the covers seldom got a
chance to dry out and that was the year when several osmosis blisters appeared.

Frequent washing of the covers in Nikwax, such as gets used to keep rain jackets
and tents waterproof, didn't help and may have made matters worse by slowing
the escape of moisture which will inevitable condense under the fabric in prolonged
      damp cold conditions.

With hindsight it may have been better not to use any covers in such prolonged
      sogginess.

I find my pretty comfortable actually. I am generally ready for a stretch (or loo)
after about 2.5 hours. The harder foam moulds to your shape as you warm it.

CarlI know the feeling, I used a beanbag for a cushion. Made one to fit usi
ngpolystyrene beads to half fill ( if its full it won't reshape) a velvet b
ag.In use just shuffle about and get a new shape every hour or so. The bean
bag will also protect the spine in heavy landings. The beans will crush an
d absorb the energy. A normal cushion will compress on loading but the risk
is that you are still moving down when the aircraft bounces up, which mean
s you hit the seat base twice as hard.
Guaranteed to work! If it doesn't I'll buy you a pint {{{:-)
