Subject: Europa-List: Annual General Meeting
With two weeks to go to the AGM at Popham, your catering and entertainments
team would like to hear from you to see whether you intend to attend.
A BBQ is being readied by our resident Masterchef but he needs a heads up as
to how many to cater for. So could you please let us know if you intend to
attend and whether you will be flying in or coming by car. Also will you be
coming regardless of the weather and if you intend to stay Friday or
Saturday night.
PUDDINGS
Whilst we will be preparing a main course it would be appreciated if we
could ask for puddings to be contributed and again please let us know what
you can bring to the party.
ENTERTAINMENT
Whilst not being put on by us, I understand that a tour of Great Britain by
the Tiger Club is anticipated to be staying over on the Saturday so we will
have this added sight of potentially up to 40 extra aircraft at Popham.
Our AGM promises to have a lively content as several Committee Members will
be changing.
So come and celebrate the old and new and enjoy a bit of Europa Club
hospitality.
See you soon
Steve Pitt
Chairman (for two weeks more)

Subject: | Aileron link rod installation |
Hi All,
I have a Classic foam core wing and Im ready to install the aileron link rod. Im
having considerable trouble working out how the aileron link rod connects to
the embedded bolt on the inboard side of the ailerons.
By my reckoning, I would need to make a hole in the leading edge flange of the
aileron to pass the push-rod ends through and then elongate the opening to allow
for aileron movement. Am I on the right direction? What's concerning is that
I cant seem to find it in the manual but Im sure it must be described somewhere.
Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction?
Many thanks
Regards
Tony

Hi Tony. If you read page 9M-3 (I'm building a mono should be the same for a trick)
to the left of the second picture it tells you to remove a portion of the
leading edge of the aileron.
Good luck, Frank kit #165

Tony - I have an XS wing but I imagine the aileron drive is very similar. I had
to cut away the LE flange of the aileron root closeout quite a bit to allow the
pushrod to connect and the aileron to rotate through its intended travel. Theres
no point in just making a hole in the flange as youll find when you come
to hinge the ailerons to the wings. There has to be room to slide the rod-end
off the bolt embedded in the aileron. On my wings its a fiddle to manage that
because the aileron mass-balance horns dont allow the aileron to move sideways,
and the pushrod cant move much in the other direction.
I thought I had a picture of how Id trimmed back the flange but the best I can
find is at:

Hope this helps.

Hi Carl,
You've taken a similar route to the one that I took when I ferried my Europa from
the UK to EDTY.
>From my reseqarch of that flight, I can offer that two cheaper options than Hahn
are Zweibruecken and Mannheim City. Both customs and immigration are available
PPR/On Request. But as Roland says above you'll only need immigration.
Just a thought... I don't know if you'll have life jackets on for the crossing;
but in the end I decided to drop into Le Tourqet and clear all formalities there
and then complete the journey. Having the life jacket on for an extended period
was getting annoying.
Oh, and a tip for the return journey... if you reverse your route, you fly over
Idar-Oberstein... at the airfield restaurant, THE BEST STEAKS I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!
And you can order them on the radio, so the meal is ready on your arrival
:-)
I hope to be at the fly-in for the Saturday. Look forward to meeting you.
Jon

Thanks for your help Roland & Jon,
I've tried to call the airfield on +49 6322 61500 to see if I can clear immigration
there, but the call rings once and then drops. I've also sent them an email,
so we'll see if they get back to me.
I'll also look into the two alternatives you suggested, Jon. We'll get there somehow
- weather permitting or course!
All the best.
Carl
