Classic Mono G-YETI took its first flight yesterday evening from Turweston Aerodrome
and with Andy Draper at the controls. No vices though a few adjustments
to make (of course).
Original builder Gerry Cole put in 5500 hours of work over 13 years, it then was
bought by Malcolm Hendra who did some of the pre-paint prep and added FF parts.
I bought the mostly finished kit 121 in 2014 and finished it off. My thanks
to my inspector Roger Targett and all in the Europa Club who have proffered
encouragement and help.
Now i must learn tail-wheel flying . . .

Dear Bob
How about trying the Colombian set up. Essentially this is the 912 mech
pump with an electric boost pump with the pressure regulated by the rotax
regulator. The new mech pump will sustain 27-30".

I have a cheap Chinese landing light for mine which has a switcher voltage converter
to allow up to 32v to be supplied. I haven't noticed any noise from it or
impact on anything, however the led matrix 3 x 3 needs about 9 v so a nice
quiet resistor would also do the job.

Graeme
where would I put it? Across the power and neutral?=8B
This light is for a bike and uses 12v.
Its pretty bright and uses little current so its fine apart from cutting
out all comms. I will try a couple of ferrite chokes to see what happens

Will,
I can understand the principle. It is something to consider. The big
issue will be running the low pressure fuel line from between the
gascolator and electric pumps forward to the mechanical pump.

Fellow Europaphiles,
For all you 914 owners who were not able to acquire one of the Billet
mechanical fuel pumps, don=99t feel bad. My pump lasted about 100
hrs before developing a significant leak back into the gearbox and
thence into the sump. It=99s quite a surprise when you burp the
engine to check the oil level and you have to remove about a pint of
stinky, fuel-contaminated oil from the reservoir.
Since the unit is not supported I am returning to the two electrical
pump configuration as per ROTAX installation instructions (914
Installation Manual Page 84). I have been collecting the bits and
pieces of hardware and fuel injection hose and will spend tomorrow
putting it all back as per the manual.
Looking forward too seeing Y=99all in about 6 weeks at AirVenture!

Well ive flown 600 hours on this set up in a savannah. So far so good.
Never really thought about the possibility of the mech pump starving the
electrical pumps but i see what youre saying. Hasnt happened so far.
Its a common set up here. My engine is a turbo 912 which i normally run at
33". There are folk here who run these at 37 or higher. They use the
same fuel set up.
It only needs one electrical pump btw. I will probably remove my second
pump in due course.

Subject: | Crimp tool - any loan available? |
Hi all,
So, I've finished the new cockpit module and I'm almost ready to install it. The
only tool I am missing is a crimp tool for the TNC connectors for the Trig VHF
and XPDR. I need to reroute the antenna cables because I'm moving the most
bring positions (of radios were panel mounted, the trigs are going behind the
rear bulkhead)
Does anyone have a crimp tool they could send me to borrow for a week or so towards
the end of July or into August?
Thanks
Jon
