Hi Tim Ward,
I am very interested in one of your aluminium Europa fuel filler pipes, I recently
had to cut mine off to remove it only to find it was actually ok and now require
a replacement.
Can you please let me know availability and how best to proceed with ordering.
Many Thanks,
Roger Grainger

Subject: | "Best" tires for Tri question |
HJ460 tracks straight and I can find no fault with her ground manners. She
is an XS tri.
I have significant wear on the outside of the tires after 35 flight hours
however I am hoping that this is due to the significant amount of taxi-ing
prior to flight testing and possibly that the bearings are stiff (require
wearing in). I plan to turn them round and grease them this weekend.
Now to my question. I notice that the 5.00x5 tires in my local aviation
shop have a square profile whereas the tires supplied with the Europa have
a rounded profile. Can I use the square profile or will it cause weird
ground behavior?
What are the "best" tires for the Europe in terms of wear and profile?
(leaving side cost as a consideration)
Many thanks

Subject: | G-WUFF Fuel filler Mod 13070 |
Hi All
I did the 13070 mod on G-WUFF about three years ago using an aluminium
pipe bent in 2 places. At the same time I moved the filler opening aft
so that the filler remained behind the baggage bay rear bulkhead as I
installed the baggage bay enlargement mod. The pipe was supplied by the
late Neville Eyre. I don't know who made it for him. At both ends I used
short flexible pipe unions to filler and fuel tank respectively. These
are sections of Gates wire reinforced hose supplied by Car Builder
Solutions. Fuel tank sealant from LAS and clamps were also used. In my
opinion an important feature is an additional aluminium clamp around the
pipe were it passes through the baggage bay rear bulkhead. This prevents
the pipe migrating aft and losing its seal with the fuel tank inlet
spigott. I had no problems with fuel smells in the cockpit once this was
installed. The fuel tank is kept fairly full so I expect the lower
unions to have been exposed to mogas/air mix quite a bit. The fuel
filters have not shown evidence if any material deterioration. Fuel
actually has to run uphill as it runs forwards in the pipe (WUFF is a
mono). This does not seem to cause any problem with filling.
I have just disassembled it with some difficulty. The inside of the
aluminium pipe and Gates hose look just the same as they did when I
fitted it.
Neville knew that the rubber filler pipes were lifed items and did post
messages on this site offering to source replacements.

Subject: | Fuel Filler Hose....... |
Hi! All.
I have today removed the 2 inch diameter formed rubber formed elbow from
G-PTAG for inspection. I was pleasantly surprised to find it immaculate
inside and out , and shows no sign of deterioration whatever.
For interest it has an identification number sequence permanently printed on
it:- 2"PVC 21:18 10/03/05.
This may have been an indicator that it was fitted close to that date when
the Long range tank and composite cobra filler assembly were fitted.
Perhaps with my extensively using the long range tank the rubber may NOT
have spent long periods immersed in Unleaded fuel.
I guess I now have a tough decision .........if it ain't broke don't fix it
?
Regards to all.
Bob Harrison G-PTAG.

Hi Roger,
The manufacturer is going to do another run after Christmas once we have sufficient
numbers and the Mod from LAA is approved.
Will put your name on the list.

I'm interested in your long range tank since you have a Trigear like me and the
factory long range tank only fits for the Mono.
Can you post a picture please?
Thanks!

Hi Tim,
please put me on the list as well.
Can you please also tell me, what outside diameter the aluminum pipe has, so that
I can order the correct silicone hose to fit the Ends to the filler and fuel
tank? Is it also 51 mm?
Thanks!

Hi William,
I have those http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/lgpages/condor.php and am satisfied.
They don't cost too much and they last quite long although the tyres on my Europa
also wear on the outside (I operate it almost exclusively on hard surface).
After some time I also just turn them around like Kevin.

Subject: | Re: LAA Airworthiness Alert. AIL December 2017 All Europas |
Stupid question, but I will ask anyway... All the examples, photos, LAA report
etc point to the side-filler Europa pipe, with 45 degree bend, which was an alternative
to the top-of-fuselage original filler. I have the latter, the long
pipe coming down through a hole in the rear bulkhead. Was this a different
pipe batch? Inspection shows no problem with mine, I fill to the top before every
flight, ie right up the pipe, then fly, then leave tank with about 3/4 full
ie the pipe is not immersed for long. I fly once a month, Nice constant temps
in Kenya 15-28 C for storage, all seems to be OK.
