Hi All Brian Davies has kindly applied to the UKLAA for Modifications approval rega rding the fuel filler elbow from the cobra to the tank. These should be sign ed off shortly. He has presented two options, one being the 53 degree aluminium pipe I suppl y and the other the AutoSilicon 60 degree hose. There is a considerable price difference regarding the two systems. Before ordering the aluminium pipes I need a firm commitment from you as I d on=99t want to end up with unsold pipes. If you decide not to go with t he aluminium pipe then I entirely understand. The cost of the aluminium pipe would be =C2=A325 each plus postage within UK as I can transport them there myself, although the cost is not a lot less f rom sending them direct from NZ. This is double the cost of the AutoSilicon 60 degree pipe which is =C2=A312. 42 each plus postage. http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/ Four fuel Clips and hose couplings are an added cost for the builder/owner i n both options. http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/ Please email me if you still would like the Aluminium Tube. Look forward to your reply. Cheers, Tim Tim Ward 12 Waiwetu Street, Fendalton, Christchurch, 8052 New Zealand ward.t@xtra.co.nz Mob +64 210640221

Alan, There is nothing in the build manual concerning what you are trying to do. Go to Bud Yerly's website under articles, http://customflightcreations.com/techniques-articles-and-build-information/techniques-articles/ and will find the only published instructions. We've come to a halt on our wings since there are no instructions on how to make the trailing edge of the wing/aileron/air brake align properly and ours definitely do not align! Hope this helps. Will, Another idea is a Stratux ADS-B receiver (www.stratux.me). That will give you ADS-B in capability when you get to the US. When fitted with GPS and AHRS, it will give you an attitude indicator and GPS speed & track on a WiFi display (we use iPad). It works also with most EFB. You can build a Stratux for about $150. Skyview Assist apparently only works with Android devices. Your really need a fuel flow computer to fly your Europa. Our experience is the shape of the tank and how little fuel we need to fly for 30 or 45 minutes, makes it difficult to use fuel gauges for endurance planning. What backup engine gauges do you really need? Perhaps just oil pressure indication and MAP for your turbo. We've found the Rotax to be very dependable - the problems we've had have been with the systems connected to it! There are several documented cases where Rotax engines have continued to run with cooling temps way beyond redline. Granted the heads were destroyed, but the engine kept running. Just another point of view for you to consider. Jim & Heather Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=477628#477628

Europa Fly-In: Petit Jean State Park, AR (KMPJ), May 18, 19, 20, 2018 This summers first Europa Club North America Fly In and Europa 25th Anniversary Celebration will be held at Petit Jean State Park in central Arkansas, May 18-20. Please save the date! Petit Jean is a reasonable distance to fly from states in the southeast and south-central US. Weve purposely chosen this date to avoid the crowds after school is out for the summer and to take advantage of cool Spring temperatures. The park offers a number of hiking trails of various difficulty and length, featuring waterfalls and overlooks. There is a lake for kayaking and fishing, and a swimming pool. Camping is available at the airport including shower facilities. The park has camping, cabins and lodge rooms (you can even rent a yurt!). The website for the park is: http://www.petitjeanstatepark.com/. Airport info is at http://www.airnav.com/airport/KMPJ There are a number of backcountry airstrips nearby that would be great fly outs including Gastons (3M0), Trigger Gap (17A which may not be listed, but is 3 miles south of 4M1) and Byrds (51AR). There is a good article about this area in the January 2018 AOPA Pilot magazine. Whether youre flying or driving, its a great opportunity to gather with other Europa owners / builders / enthusiasts. Hope you can join us! Jim and Heather Butcher butcher43@att.net Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=477630#477630

Jim Yes! Exactly my thoughts. I jumped the gun and bought a LEVIL and may yet spring for a BOM which is a self powered wireless underwing mounted ADSB AoA Adahrs all singing all dancing type device make by levil. As far as the engine is concerned I need the bare minimum. I figure if I have an issue close to an airport then Im landing if the PFD goes dark. Therefore I don't need a full set of engine diagnostics. I need the minimum back up to land safely and possibly get me home. So yes definitely a MAP gauge because my turbo is manual. I have space for a 2" MAP and two other 2" or 2.25 instruments. At the moment I have an RPM which I figure might be redundant because the airmaster should control the rpm. Apart from the MAP, what 2 engine health instruments would you choose if you had to choose only two?
