Hi Pete,
You will be on your own for breakfast. I suggest you have it at your hotel.

Subject: | 12mm fuel hoses at the elecrical fuel pumps Rotax 914? |
Hello friends,
my Europa is currently in the workshop of a friend to get new fuel hoses. My friend
owns a Rotax 912 powered Monowheel, thus is not familiar with the 914 fuel
system. While removing the hoses he discovered one piece of 12mm braided hose
close to the fuel pumps (see attached picture). In the 914 installation manual
on the Europa website I can identify a reducer HFRP 8-12 before the pumps.
So my question is, whether this 12mm pieces just connect the 8mm hoses before the
fuel pumps via the reducer to a 12mm inlet in the fuel pumps?
Its the first time work is conducted on my fuel system sice Ive bought my Europa
second hand.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Regards
Roland

Subject: | Corrosion on the engine/nose gear mounting frame |
Another question, that popped up during the thorough inspection in the workshop:
My friend found corrosion on the inner sides of the steel tubes of the engine/nose
wheel mounting frame of my Europa XS, finished in the year 2001. Its not yet
clear how much corrosion there actually is, but anyway I want to address this
problem as early as possible. Im thinking about flooding the frame with ACF50
if accessible. My Europa was based in Perranporth close to the coast, which
although always hangered - may have contributed to a higher amount of corrosion.
Has anyone had corrosion in the frame tubes as well and what did you do to protect
the inner sides against corrosion? I guess changing the whole frame is a hell
of a job which Id very much like to avoid.

Subject: | TL2.26 use of mogas - anyone been through the LAA hoops? |
Hi after seeing it mentioned again in the UK LAA mag intro and there being an updated
process for MOGAS E5 approval I have started to go through the check list;
Flying from a strip I had been running on mogas since day one with no signs of
any issues.
Has anyone sent in the checklist yet? Any issues?

Graeme,
Yes I also did it a couple of years ago on 3 separate aircraft and it was no
issue. In fact we only had to get an inspector to sign the paperwork off and
then attach the paperwork to the logbooks. There was no requirement to
contact the LAA.

Hi Graeme
Straightforward process. Retain inspection sheet. Get book signed by inspector.
I would add Im very anal on this subject. Have you got an ethanol tester?
I did tests in my local area with a wide range of results. Always test yourself.
In the UK there is no legal requirement to show the % of ethanol in the fuel.
Im fortunate that my nearest place is E0. And I routinely reprove it. For technically
fuel station can change the configuration.
My prefered station isnt Esso. But Esso comments are useful.
Esso The majority of unleaded 95 Octane petrol sold in the UK contains up to five
percent ethanol as required under the Governments Renewable Transport Fuels
Obligation (RTFO).
97: There is currently no requirement for renewable fuel (such as ethanol) to be
present in super unleaded (97 grade petrol). Esso super unleaded petrol (Synergy
Supreme+ Unleaded 97) is ethanol free (except in Devon, Cornwall, the Teesside
area and Scotland). We would therefore advise anyone who has concerns about
the presence of ethanol in petrol to use Synergy Supreme+ providing they
do not fill up in Devon or Cornwall, the Teesside area or Scotland.
My local place sells E0. Long may it continue! E0 has less propensity for vapour
lock and less likely to attract acetobacter interest.
Regards
Bob

I use a Briggs & Stratton gasohol tester.
Sadly not stocked by any of the big people in the UK.
But you will find them for sale at good quality Lawn Mower Repair places.
They last forever and cost between 1 and 2.

Hi Roland
have you had the frame reinforcement mod done?
http://www.europa-aircraft.com/pdfs/modifications/Mod%2072.pdf
I used fire intumescent paste in the lower tubes to stop flame or smoke being
feed into the cockpit,
the 8mm to 12mm reducer for the 914 Fuel pumps are normal, i would change them
from the plastic ones you have to Brass or aluminium as the plastic ones get
brittle and crack,
dont forget to remove the small inlet fuel filter just inside the inlet side of
the pump to clean it, its quite fragile so be careful,
