As Bud says detective work is necessary.. I didnt need to investigate in depth as over the weekend I brushed the whole area in denatured alchool and ran the engine again. its quite evident that the 'leak' is from the propellor hub as Tim alludes. Its true I did service the propeller unit in the spring and probably was too generous with the grease and the recent hot weather in the uk with high engine temperaturs exacerbated the problem.. I am not sure if the brushes absorb oil and grease but they are not making 100% contact so i will replace them. I have taken onoard Buds advice regarding the gearbox maintenance but maybe its not necessary at the moment as the engine is only around 500hrs I bought the aircraft at 400 hrs but it first flew in 2006 once again Bud & Tim Thank you for your response. maybe saved me some hard earned cash as i was quoted $1500 for a gearbox/seal replacement Bill By the way Bud I live quite close to Steve Pitt but have little contact -------- Give a wise man knowledge and he will be yet wiser Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=481655#481655 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 03:44:22 AM PST US Subject: Europa-List: Re: Ventilators From: "willydewey" I had the same problem Bud and found they stressed out because of the taper on the minibolt head.. When tightened it put stress on the plastic causing it to crack. Replacing the stainless bolt with a straight shank should solve it Bill -------- Give a wise man knowledge and he will be yet wiser Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=481656#481656 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 11:47:54 AM PST US Subject: Europa-List: Re: Vista ventilators From: "Phil B" Bill, Finally went to install the Vista vents today but found the lower front screen in front of the doors is not flat and will therefore distort the Vista vent when the screws are tightened. How does this affect the operation of the vents and will it put any undue stresses on the windscreen? Any suggestions on the location of the vents? Thanks in advance. -------- Phil B Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=481665#481665 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 02:48:28 PM PST US From: William Daniell Subject: Re: Europa-List: Battery independent power supply for Rotax 914 fuel pumps You could try the rotax 912 turbo solution. This uses a standard 912 mechanical pump in addition to the two electric pumps. All feed the fuel regulator and the excess returns to the tank. You only need one electric pump operating by the way otherwise the regulator cant cope. The new style mechanical fuel pump on its own will maintain 27"-28" and therefore keep you flying. Indeed some people here shut down the electric pumps in cruise claiming that it saves fuel. The fuel feed goes from the fuel tap to the gascolator and then splits into the feeder to the electric pumps and the feeder to the mech pump. the output from all pumps meets at the regulator Will William Daniell LONGPORT +57 310 295 0744 On Sat, Jul 14, 2018 at 11:02 AM, Robert Borger wrote: > > Roland, > > I will be very interested in your efforts to provide a backup power supply > for the electric pump(s).
