Did those cars/bikes have Ducatti electrics?

Actually I think we worry too much about this.
When was the last time you had a (modern) car stop once it was running? I cant
remember this ever happening to me and I have some pretty ropy cars. I once
had a BMW R75/6 stop because the capacitor failed but apart from that I cant think
of a single instance of an internal combustion engine stopping once it was
running - including a wide variety of tanks, motorbikes cars etc in nigh on
40 years of driving.
Come to think of it I cant remember any of my parents cars stopping once they were
running - ah yes once when the fuel filter was almost blocked.
Normally if they start and you feed them they continue to run.

Hello Will,
to be independent of electricity is indeed a big advantage. However there are few
modern engines (Rotax iS, Continental CD 155 Diesel, car engines....) which
aren't.
As far as I know there was only one (documented) electrical related accident in
Switzerland with a MCR01, which didn't have a standard setup if my memory serves.
That said, it's of course always better to have redundancy (other than just the
battery), especially in a plane and that is why I'll go for the Silent Hektik
product.

Subject: | Play in monowheel Tailwheel arm rear mounting hole. |
A mate of mine, also with a Classic monowheel has had a problem come to light.
The Tailwheel arm, where it passes through the fins rear close out has become
disbonded from the hole and a fair bit of play in the arm has developed in an
up and down sense. Only noticeable when the rear fuselage is supported with
the tail wheel off the ground. The front mounting bolt and structure is fine.
We wondered if anyone has or knows of a suitable U.K. LAA approved repair scheme
to rectify this oversized/ elongated hole?
Cheers, Jon

Cant you remove the arm, 1 bolt, clean the redux off, prep the tail wheel bar area
for rebonding and refit then there is no real repair as your installing it
again as per the manual.

That's the right way to "fix" it.
I pull the tail spring after undoing the bolt to check the slop in the off
times poorly built mount.
If the hole is wonky, drill to 3/8" OD and insert a steel tube with a 3/8 b
y 5/16" ID and Redux in. Assemble, and allow to cure.

Hi Bud, thanks for your reply. Just to be sure, he says his front mounting bolt
and structure are all sound and in good order. Its the rear mount (where
the arm passes through the fin close out) that he is concerned about as that
7/8 hole has become oversize with wear - elongated in an upwards direction such
that the tail wheel arm is quite close to the base of the rudder.
His concern is whether it is acceptable to pack that space out with redux/ flox
around (especially above) the arm to eliminate the wear in the hole, or if a
more elaborate repair in this area would be recommended. There is no further
damage to the close out area, just an oversize hole!
