That's very interesting and a possible alternative to a new plastic tank. Thanks for sharing that! However I think one just wins some time, if the tank really becomes brittle over the years. What I understood is, that the new Europa tanks became better since about 2006 and it is critical not to bond it too much to the cockpit module. I can see a destinctive dent outside on the fuselage on the left side where the tank is obviosly bonded to the structure causing severe stresses. Maybe I can install a huge battery instead of a new tank :-) Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=482138#482138

Dear David, I intend to join the Spain 2 trip which starts on the 8th Sept so again I will be unable to fly the scouts again this year. A pity as it is such an enjoyable experience. The Europa community has given great support to this event in previous years and I would be grateful to hear from anyone who might be able to help this year. Some details attached and full briefing available on request. > > Regards, David Joyce, GXSDJ > > > > <Defford advert 2018.docx>

Hello all, I realize that this is a bit unconventional, but I recently got into the 3D printer hobby. With that in mind, does anyone know where I can find/get an .STL file of the Europa XS Tri-Gear aircraft so I can print it as a desk model (a show piece)? I'm willing to pay for said file of the Europa as long as the price is reasonable (based on other .stl model market value), the .stl is an accurate depiction of the Europa, and is good quality. Note, I'm not a business so the print/s will NOT be for sale. This is strictly for personal , decorative, hobby use for me as a Europa XS owner. Any leads to find this file would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Rob Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=482140#482140

Hi John, There is a drain hole under the water pump which is designed to allow water to exit that has passed the water pump seal, so that it does not enter the crankcase through the oil seal. The Manual Shows an engine Strip down to Change the seal but I have done it in situe from under the plane. A fiddle, but possible. Mine is a 912 on a Classic mono so your Access could be different. To find a leak why not use the same technique that is used to find one in y our car engine , where you put an additive into your coolant and then use a n ultraviolet light after running the engine ? ________________________________ From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com <owner-europa-list-server@matr onics.com> on behalf of tennant <barrington.tennant@gmail.com> Sent: 07 August 2018 12:47 Subject: Europa-List: Re: Water pump removal =C2=AB=C2 inaircraft=C2 =C2=BB XS Hi John, There is a drain hole under the water pump which is designed to allow water to exit that has passed the water pump seal, so that it does not enter the crankcase through the oil seal. I'm not (yet) convinced that the old tanks do become brittle with age, mine is a pre 2006 XS tank. The material I removed for the cut-out seems to be exactly the same as a cut-out I removed from a new tank I purchased but didn't fit as far as flexibility goes. What I did do was support the old tank as much as possible underneath and at the sides using non-expanding foam used in the building industry. As far as possible, I use non-ethanol forecourt fuel, maybe some other fuels could cause embrittlement who knows. One thing is for sure, even if I have to fit a new tank sometime in the future, I would still cut a hole in the tank top, it's great to be able to drain, clean and inspect the tank properly. You may be wondering why I cut a hole in the top of a new tank, the reason is that I was going to fit a bladder inside the original tank. This didn't work out because I couldn't make a fuel-tight bladder and getting one manufactured was prohibitively expensive. It remains an option though.
