Dave, I've sent you a p.m. I'm considering a repair as an interim fix. Regards Roland XS TG 914 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=482204#482204

As the posesser of a very old tank I have been following this with interest. The embrittlement problems seem to be yet another consequence of the addition of alcohol to motor fuels. The alcohol leaches out the plasticisers and over time the inflexible plastic cracks along stress lines. I go to great lengths to totally avoid alcohol containing fuels. 100LL is nearly always available and with the use of lead scavenging additives avoids the most serious consequences of leaded fuel use. This is preferable to the leaching effects of alcohols. I am fortunate to spend the summer in Nova Scotia, Canada where high test road fuel is alcohol free. Avoid alcohol. Tank damage is not the only negative consequence. Hello, I have 4 people on the waiting list for fuel filler pipes according to SM 13070. Some of them were told "times up" by their inspectors on their now 20 something year old rubber hoses and the aircraft grounded. If you have a Classic fuel filler system you will require a replacement sooner or later. Price will be the same as last time 195 GBP plus postage. This mod will permit the the connecting hoses to be replaced every 5 years along with other fuel hoses as only straight sections are required. Please let me know if you are interested and I will give an update shortly? Many thanks to the dozen or so folk who responded to my previous request for your favourite Europa pictures. We now have some cracking pictures which will find their way into the Europa Flyer or onto the website, but we could do with lots more, so please the other 300+ club members dig out your beautiful pictures and email them to me! Regards, David Joyce, G-XSDJ
