Ivor, thanks very much, this is very useful and relevant! If you have a chance,
could you just confirm in your Units page, if your map datum is WGS84 (or the
datum it is set to)? And in System Setup, also that WAAS and EGNOS are turned
off?
After 6 months of prodding to Garmin UK Technical Department, still no clear answer
on geoids, but will keep trying!

The Europa Club trip to Spain has sadly been cancelled and I am
proposing to do a Last of the Summer Wine Trip to France with three of
the Spain participants and anyone who cares to join us
LSOW trips are gentle trips around some of our favourite spots in
France, generally just flying a single leg in a day leaving time to
enjoy the many pleasures that France offers. So these trips have been
seen as the sort most likely to appeal to the lady in your life! We also
offer full support for anyone new to continental touring ( - how to deal
with Flight plans, GARs etc., which may seem daunting at first but are
fairly straightforward once you have gone through the procedure once.)
My timing for this is from Tuesday 11 September until the weekend
(16/9) but we are flexible and there would be no reason for folk not
joining or returning at different times.

We had a very enjoyable LAA Rally, helped of course by perfect weather.
The Europa Club marquee was busy throughout the three days and it was
good to see so many old friends. 65 members signed the register of
attendees and a fair few more by passed it and homed in on the coffee
and biscuits! It was particularly good to welcome friends from Holland,
France and Belgium. We signed up several new members.
The judging for the LAA Cup for best Europa at the rally was very close
but the winner was Bob Dawson's Snow Goose, G-NHRJ. He will receive the
cup at the LAA AGM. Runners up were Dave Disney, G-RJWX; John Wighton,
G-IPOD & Roger Grainger, G-CICA, all of whom will get certificates of
Commendation from the LAA. Hearty congratulations to them all, and
thanks to my fellow judges, Remi Guerner and Peter Kember.
We have very nearly sold out of the Europa 25 commemorative mugs but
have a few left for anyone who wants one at 5 a go
