Hi Will, if only the upper door frame gets in contact with the roof/fuselage and leaving the plane for a couple of days for settling doesn't work, you can just file the upper door frame a little. A fellow Europa friend suggested that after I almost lost the right door in flight, thus pulling it close very hard to get it locked again. After that incident the door was deformed a little bit. As for your flight to the US: well done! Regards Roland PH-ZTI XS TG 914 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=487453#487453

Roland thanks, actually it wasnt that bad just a loud "clack" on opening the door. The door would open fine if I just pressed down on the top between the doors or up on the inside of the door. However I thought it was interesting and worth sharing. I will file it down a bit when I get round to it. The prop pitch issue argues that if you set the pitch stop for Florida you wont develop full take off power on a cold day in Alaska which is potentially a safety issue. Luckily I was taking off from long paved runways on my trip round the gulf but even so the engine sounded labored under take off power 37" MAP at 5200. Regarding your door problem, I had this trouble when I fitted my doors and found I was making very little progress trying to sand the edge of the doors for clearance. It suddenly dawned on me that a small spacer placed midway between the hinges on top of the door surround should work and to my delight it fixed the problem immediately. The packing has to be thick enough to ensure the surface of the top of the door is level with the corresponding surface on the fuselage. Try a piece of cardboard with sticky tape first if you have any doubts about it working. See photo attached. Regards Kingsley in Oz
