Back on the topic of rusty flap cross tubes. The 96EG cross tube was pretty rusty on the inside. Using a 4 foot piece o f plastic brake line through the bearing and spraying with anti corrosion s pray, then air pressure to force the fluid to spray around the inside, work ed well. Used a shop vac on the tube to get out any residual Corrosion X a nd frankly wasn=92t worth the time for such a small amount of Corrosion X l eft in the tube bend. Worth a try if you are worried about this type corrosion. If you make a ho le in the tube bend bottom, put a drain and cup under the hole when you do this spray in corrosion control or you will make a nasty rusty spot in your beautiful airplane. Hi Group Thx. for replies. My flap cross tube is installed but baggage bay not yet i n. I drilled a .100" hole in situation. The way I did it was I used an air powered angle drill. I first put a piece of 3M 375 packaging tape on the bo ttom of the tube then scuff sanded it with 80 grit. I took a piece of alumi nium rod and drilled a .100" hole in it, it was about1/2" long, then JB KWI K Welded it to the tape. I had the flap tube in the down position using my EyeChrometer to get drill jig vertical and in the middle of bend. After cur e put cross tube in up position and drilled hole. ACF 50 with extension tub e once in a while while blowing and sucking is a good idea also too. Ron P. Very clear. Other props, good luck. Go to your manufacturer or the chat room for a pro p no longer in production to get the manuals. Typically your brushes are worn and no longer make solid contact. If an el ectric prop cannot be used in manual, normally go to your prop manual and c hange your brushes if they are worn. Next is the actual micro switches used. Again, simple to trouble shoot by inspection. Again, the troubleshooting guide is available from the prop ma nufacturer. Finally if the prop will not respond in general I always start at the front of the prop, check the motor by disconnecting the leads from the prop, and use a 9-12 volt power source (as per your particular manufactuer) to drive the motor. If the motor works, fine, if not replace it. Most likely the prop manufacturer has an upgraded motor as electric motor and gearbox techn ology has improved significantly. Follow the leads back through to the bru sh rings. Pretty simple on an Airmaster, the wires are color coded. Then once the fault is found, it becomes obvious. For the Airmaster we have documentation on request. Our electrical trouble shooting guide is attached for your review. As Gary Leinberger (388SG) said tongue in cheek: =93I=92m going to write a book on how to troubleshoot by going to the last thing I checked and found the solution. I=92ll make millions.=94 Seems that is the way it works. When we build airplanes, we builders have all the manuals on all the system s, we make drawings, photos and document our airplanes. Without these manu als, and the familiarity with them, proper maintenance is difficult to impo ssible to perform properly. Best Regards, Bud Yerly US Airmaster Dealer Custom Flight Creations, Inc. The pitch has become fixed in the "fine" position. The slip ring is good and voltages appearing on the slip ring seem ok. Does anyone have a description/wiring diagram of the system, or can anyone pass on knowledge of where the problem might be? Does anyone have a service manual that may help. A cross section view of the mechanism would be great! Many thanks in anticipation. -------- MK Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=490185#490185 ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 07:32:25 AM PST US From: Bud Yerly Subject: RE: Europa-List: Re: 914 100% Throttle Gate Ron, To save metal workings look at a simple and effective mod that is easy to u se and install. A simple angle installed in the existing throttle box work s great and is a lot less filing and easy to adjust. It happened to me one hot day...I left the aircraft out in the sun with the parking brake on and and it bound on - apparently the older PA28s do it. I cant remember the explanation though. An Europa owner here in the US has offered me one and is sending it to me for inspection. I will let you know if anything changes. In any case thanks again but would like to hear your experience with the modified radiator. Can you share any info?
