    Subject: Oil Usage
Good Day all, My 600 hour 912UL is using about 30ml/hr, half the max allowed by Rotax, requiring top ups about every 10 hours. The exhaust looks dry, compressions & crankcase pressures are good. I get a mist of oil from the oil tank vent line which passes through a collector bottle (that doesnt accumulate oil). It leaves a smear of oil on the cowling. Perhaps nothing to worry about but any suggestions are welcome. Regards, Roger

Hi Dave, I hope all is well in Kent. I am still atempting to solve my wobbling about problem. I changed a rod ball end in the ailerons and various other things to no avail. The outer hinges on the rim tabs have some wear. Do you have some of the overside pin available or would you give me the supplier/part number ? Do you have a supplier for the whole hinge - MS20001-3 or is it Europa themselves ? Thanks Richard Holder

You can get the hinge from Europa, LAS aerospace or aircraft spruce. I doubt the wear would leave a round hole for an oversized pin. Could try a new pin easily though. -------- Graeme Bird Kit 2 in build, Mono Classic 912; Kit 1 G-UMPY - Mono Classic/XS FFW 912S, Woodcomp SR3000/3W CS, trutrak Gemini 2 axis AP, PAW, PFLARM, ads-b out, 8.33khz, mode S, FP-5, Aera500, SD on Nexus, Smart A3 380 hours, 980t g(@)gdbmk.co.uk Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=491223#491223

One might consider the long ez mod, namely the thinner pin, in a teflon tube/jacket. =46rom the archives: From: Steven A Eberhart Subject: teflon/stainless hinge pin I am building a wing section for wind tunnel testing in the University of Illinois low speed wind tunnel. It is 18" chord by 34" span with a 20% chord aileron. I used standard aluminum piano hinge for the aileron hinge and was not satisfied with the amount of play in the new piano hinge (purchased from Wicks Aircraft). After seeing the posts about the teflon/stainless hinge pin modification I thought I had found the answer to the play in my hinge. I ordered the teflon tubing and bought a pound of stainless welding rod. These are the dimensions of the materials: original hinge pin .084" stainless welding rod .061" dia hole in hinge > .091" could only check with piece of brass tubing as I don't have a set of drills to verify diameter. stainless rod with teflon sleve .091" but would compress to .084" The stainless rod easily slid into the teflon sleve and the sleve/rod assembly easily slid into the hinge. There was still slop in the hinge after inserting the teflon/stainless rod due to the assembly being able to compress to .084" but it was a smoother operating hinge. It would seem that the modification would help prevent new hinges from wearing but I don't know about using it to repair a worn hinge. Would seem that a thicker wall teflon tubing would be required. I am on the look out for such teflon tubing. If anyone finds any please let me know. A 100 ft. of teflon tubing from McMaster-Carr was $14.00 USD and a pound of welding rod was $14.00 USD.
