Anything suitable for undercowl or underhood conditions willbe suitable. I used fuel line tubing I had on hand. Make sure the curves are long and soft enough not to stress the fittings you are fitting to the carburetor. The aquarium tubing supplied with my unit failed due to heat and friction. Real fuel line is much more robust. Keep it flexible. Carburetors mix fuel and air by volume and at 8000ft you have left 25% of the atmosphere behind. Therefore a cubic meter of air at 8k ft contains only 75% of the oxygen and the carb should be mixing 75% of the sea level fuel at WOT. Temperature does affect the air density but altitude (atmospheric pressure) has a much greater effect than 10 degrees C. Fuel injection systems mix fuel and air by mass, not by volume, and are much less affected by air density. > > > > ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:46:49 AM PST US From: crouton Subject: Europa-List: Bing mixture The Bing meters fuel with the interaction of the needle and the main jet. At full throttle the needle has been lifted clear of the jet. Jet size (bore) at WOT determines fuel volume and is sized to flow a little extra at WOT providing richer mixture for climb. Upon reaching cruise and reducing throttle the needle decends part way into the jet bore, constricting the fuel delivery to cruise rates (up to 4000ft). Higher than that the diaphragm needs a little help to lower the needle in the jet. The Hacman changes the pressure (vacuum) on top of the diaphragm thus lowering the needle and leaning the mixture. Id be awfully cautious about messing with the 914 mixture as it is a turbo-normalized engine.
