Ron, Our GPS antenna (GNS 430) is mounted on a aluminum plate which is attached to the top of the fuselage aft of the baggage bulkhead. I think it is about 12" diameter and I just used wood spacers about 2"-3" long bonded to the fiberglas. The main reason for posting is that we had a lot of difficulity finding a place for our magnetometer that isnt affected by RF from the comm antenna (dipole on vertical fin per the manual). The place that finally worked is overhead between the doors. Even there we had to use ferrite beads on the wires. I wanted to alert you to this potential problem before you mount your GPS antenna there. Jim Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=498552#498552

Hi Group To all that replied, thank you. Jim, what wires did you put ferrite beads on? The magnetometer wires? Where, how many and what size did you use? Ron Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=498555#498555

In my effort to prepare info for second hand owners of the Europa, I found the following info I did some time ago. I quickly updated it to add some newer information for folks to consider as most A&P mechanics have no idea what to do with a Europa when the pilot/owner non builder is confronted with something as simple as a tire change or annual service. I hope this attachment is of some service. Bud Yerly Custom Flight Creations, Inc.
