Ian and I are both glider pilots and go for min drag, both Ian and I went for a
wheel at the spar extension but he being ahead of me discovered that, with the
outrigger retracted, the aileron drags on the ground. Ian has used a wingtip
wheel from a Ventus glider, mounted further aft.

Hi Paul, Dave,
Yes, I have been in contact with John Wighton about the taildragger modification,
the design work's being done through a company called Acroflight (acroflight.co.uk)
in Essex. His latest email to me says they're looking for updates for
the supply of parts which has necessitated some updating of the technical documentation.
There's also another option by Bob Berube shown on the Europa Club website (Build
- Undercarriage tab) but I don't have any details on that.
Dave, I'd be grateful for more info on the mod you're proposing. I'm just starting
work on the fuselage module and am keen to understand the impact of any of
the options on what I need to build in or leave out.

Hi,
For the conventional tailwheel operators, did you gain any prop clearance
from the monowheel setup?

Some did, some didn't.
The Swiss gearleg gives a lot more clearance than the mono. But some of those fitted
were cut down (!) to provide the same ride height as the mono.

Hello,
I am looking for the correct BID cloth weight as used in the EUROPA kit.
This would be for an order from Aircraft Spruce in NA.
Thanks!

Tony, prop clearance depends on both which prop was installed and which conventional
gear was installed.

Im not sure if the Bob Berubes option is available any longer. Another builder
recently enquired and was told the brackets are no longer available. While the
plans are available, the aluminum brackets used to mount the Grove one piece
aluminum landing gear legs would have to be built using measurements of those
currently in use.

Ian does use a wing runner with retracted outriggers, I am uncertain of performance
increase, I will ask him.
Ian also flies an Argus, self launching glider with wingtip wheels, I used to fly
such an aircraft, wingtip runners is the norm.
Regards to all for the new year.
