Gents I have the speed kit fitted to my XS but I dont have any transitions to the fuselage or wheel fairings. Are these available from Europa or are they something each builder makes for himself? More surface creates more drag. So there is an optimum somewhere: for a 2D fairing (like for a strut or a wheel leg) the optimal width to length ratio would be 1:3.7, with the widest point at about 30% of the length. For a 3D fairing things get a bit more complicated. Shorter carries a higher penalty than longer, so if in doubt just make it longer. >> >> Frans >> >> >> >> > >

I have wheel pants and fairings (the speed kit) on my Europa Tri-gear High-top - speed kit built by Bud Yerly. I went from 119 kts to 137 knots (at 1000 ft full throttle) after putting them on. Talk to Bud - I don't know if he still makes them but I am very satisfied - and they are easy to work with - one bolt, two screws and a pin and they are off. After 400 hrs. and 8.5 years only slightly dinged up (dumb tax for not being more careful rolling the plane out and hit a door guide in the hanger).
