| Subject: | Re: UMA RPM gauge with Rotax 914 |

      Thanks all,

So using my ready-readers that you can nearly see bacteria with, I found the numbers
Ron mentioned on the white wires - yay.

So we have established that one must ignore the UMA install guide as far as the
wires chosen to connect the gauge to - on the 914 it is different - I will let
UMA know how confusing this information is.

Now I know which of the white wires to connect the gauge to, it does raise another
question - since the UMA gauge requires that one of the signal wires is also
connected to GROUND, is the Turbo Control Unit (TCU) fussy about which one
      ?

Am I likely to short out the TCU in some way, by connecting one of these wires
that exit the TCU and connect to the UMA gauge to ground ?

I don't want to make a meal of this, but the TCU is a costly bit of kit to replace
and I do not want to damage it of course.

      Any thoughts ?

      Regards
      Trevor

Word of caution to all you aspiring fighter pilots trying for the ultimate performance
      from your engine/prop:

Auto fuels (95 & 98 RON) are; Not subject to the some quality control standards
of AvGas - variation due to adulteration & contamination with other fuels is
      common.

I use 98 RON most of the time. 95 RON if 98 is not available and on very rare occasions,
      when no ULP obtainable, AvGas.

I have always used 98 RON on the assumption (hopefully not false) that if the fuel
had been adulterated, with other fuels (lower grade ULP petrol, Ethanol blend
or diesel) then I am burning at least the equivalent of 95 RON.

So my advise is; Be conservative with the way you set up your engine/prop

I have just completed my finale purchase inspection of a Europa Classic.

If the purchase proceeds, I will probably replace the transceiver

As you will know the Europa's composite skin facilitates the installation of an
internal transceiver antenna. I this case a dipole, in the vertical tail/fin.

My question is: Is the dipole inherently "tuned" ? or could it require SWR adjustment
      ?

In my research, I checked every Europa Mandatory& Recommended Modification - all
Mandatory's have been done EXCEPT a LAA "Standard Modification" No SM11906,
Issue 2, "Stabilator Torque Tube Drive Assembly Your comments/advice on this
      omission wold be much appreciated
