    Hi! James, You have had a close shave with leaking fuel , and you would do the Europa Club group a favour to publish the issue of rudder cable guidance. Such issues can be anticipated during the build process. The cables can wander and flap on the floor during the process of operating the rudder when flying, all noises to distract your attention from controlling the aircraft . During the build It is quite simple to insert short lengths of plastic tubing wherever there is a slight direction change of the cables between the firewall and the rudder destination ( and passing fuel pipes as in your case ) during the build process and a redux fix of the tubing to the fuselage floor , it also stops the noise of cables flapping about , particularly in the restricted area through the tunnel and also when they pass by the "H" section tailplane balance weight restraint structure and alignment through the rear bulkhead.     Sorry for delayed thanks. Thanks for your input. So likely enough it is the sender. My rotax guy in colombia concurs. He has been looking after and modifying rotax for a long time and says he has never had an issue with the oil system; it's always the sender. The other thing he suggested is that it might be the filter. So in conclusion change the oil sender and the oil and filter. But so weird that the oil pressure should rise with altitude!     I am not intending to point fingers. Please do not take offense: Frankly, I'm shocked the inspector didn't find such a flagrant problem during the normal build inspection and post build inspection process. Wiring, hoses, cables, and mechanisms must be checked for proper clearances during the build, after any maintenance and especially after a hose change. One must anticipate that gravity works 24/7 and hoses and wiring must be secured to prevent any conflict with any moving object, control or cable. We have all been bitten by this conflict between components and must carefully inspect our work and that of others to prevent such incidents. Attention to detail is essential. A quick flashlight look around is not an inspection. Good enough is not always good. Of course, as Ira Rampil quoted one of his professors "The enemy of good is better" and one can get too carried away with overthinking a cable to hose clearance/securing issue when a simple zip tie fix or making a standoff out of zip ties and plastic tubing/fairlead on a cable can be done in minutes! In my experience, a cable can be manufactured in a few minutes. If the cable run has not been done right, or there are areas of concern with wires and cables near the rudder cables, cut the cable and make a new one with some tubing for protection and just be done with it. Fred's comments are true. Plastic tubing over your cables is neat, smart and prevents inadvertent interference running cables around the fuselage. I run cables in tubing from the firewall, back to the pulley and then as far back as I can in the rear of the fuselage. Put an Adel clamp or plastic P clip on the tube and never worry about the cable chafing or slapping around. Clean quiet and neat if done properly (i.e. run the cables straight and don't use the tubing for bending the cable around items where a pulley is the proper answer.     My EIS started to give erratic rpm readings last year, it would move around from to high to low and sometimes zero and then it began to run normal. This year after a (few months not flying ) it ran normal for first few minutes then erratic, now I get zero! All other EIS readings are working properly. I spent a great deal of time checking grounds and the wire running to the ECU. Ive checked the connection into the EIS, rechecked a number of times. Engine running good. I thought about the rpm pick up coil that sends the rpms to the ecu might be issue but since the turbo is functioning properly, the ecu must be getting rpm data from the coil? Ive installed a tiny tach to check rpms and that indicates proper rpms. Im now looking at pulling the EIS and sending it to GRT to test, reluctant to send it, with all the delays Im sure will come with that but running out of options.     Jerry, The tach pickup goes through the TCU so pull the plug on the TCU and clean the contacts and put on some dielectric grease also helps. If you have any issues with the 914 that seem to be TCU related or sender related on an old engine, clean the contacts especially if you haven't cleaned them in years. You have to be creative on cleaning the plug, the pins in the TCU are easy. Normally it is something simple. Best of Luck.
