Fred, if you have some spare $$$s it's worth considering the Beringer
wheel and brake system, which is lighter and a much superior braking
system and a tubeless tyre. Regards, David Joyce, GXSDJ

Interesting.
I used old araldite for non structural stuff including bonding a handle on
a spaghetti sieve which was regularly put in the dishwasher. I expected
the heat and humidity to overcome the joint. Not a bit of it. The
bond lasted longer than the seive.

Fred,
I've had good luck simply buffing out the pucks and the caliper. It's just
aluminum, and rarely does the puck get damaged. It does get a bit rough f
rom corrosion. A freshly smoothed caliper and puck with a new O ring seems
to work well. I use a cotton wheel on a Dremel type tool and some red jew
elers rouge after a sanding with 1000 grit paper to shine it up. O rings a
re tough to find. Especially the square edged ones. I'm no help there.
I have no spare calipers as I have a Europa mono in the shop with some seri
ous gear/brake issues and may have to rebuild everything! I find it odd th
at the gear and brakes passed inspection for the last two annuals in this c
ondition.
I'm afraid if your disk and caliper are in bad shape the cost of replacemen
ts is getting harder. Consider the Berringer Brake unit as a long term sol
ution. I'm just too old to worry about long term, so I spend the time and
buff and clean.
Best Regards,
Bud Yerly

Davidyes, the Beringer components can be a bit spendy, though I
already have their stick mounted lever with integral reservoir, thus
allowing left hand on brake, right hand on throttleF.

Fred, try kartcomponents.com
Years ago I got replacement o-rings from them , I think they were a supplier
to Europa at that time. An inquiry might be worth a try.
I ordered an extra set too, but I just did a search, can=99t find, sor

Subject: | Re: mono brake puck |
Budforgive me, but when I look at the exploded view, 29-8, in
the XS Build Manual, I don=99t see any hint that the Europa
=9CBrake Slave Cylinder LG23" breaks down into pieces or contains
an O ring.
=46rom what you=99ve written, I=99m thinking that if I
remove the two AN4H-15A bolts, doing so will allow me access to the O
ring that you=99ve mentionedPlease confirmor
Is the puck, or slave cylinder, just a block with a hole in it?
and if so, where is this O ring?
Please forgive my ignorance.
My leak appears to be coming from the bleeder screw; however, I have, as
per the manual, wrapped the bleeder screw in PTFE tape.
BTW, I=99ve really trashed the hex portion of the bleeder screw,
so I=99d love to find a replacement.

just aluminum, and rarely does the puck get damaged. It does get a bit
rough from corrosion. A freshly smoothed caliper and puck with a new O
ring seems to work well. I use a cotton wheel on a Dremel type tool and
some red jewelers rouge after a sanding with 1000 grit paper to shine it
up. O rings are tough to find. Especially the square edged ones. I'm
no help there.
