Good thought.
The lining of the hose is completely intact with no visible damage. There
was no oil residue on the inside of the fire sleeve
However change in pressure with altitude suggests that the hose was
compromised.
The consequences of not correcting this might have been total and rapid
loss of oil.

Thanks for the pdf write up Bud; its very thorough informative and extensive, and
yes will save many going through all those experiences to find a solution...
On the issue of this thread, have you used a dual meter to observe left/right manifold
pressure readings through operating rpm range and while the vibration
at 3500rpm is active, flickering needle on either gauge will indicate sticking
valve; theres also small chance one of the choke valves is not fully returning
to correct position, or a carburettor piston may be binding intermittently on
the slide... then again it may not be fuel/carbi related.. if you have access
to two verified good carbis then swap them out and see if the issue disappears...
will be interesting to see what it ends up being !!

Subject: | Monowheel Inner Tube |
It is essential for all of us to keep up on the spare parts needed for our
aircraft, and where to buy them. Of course, part numbers and retailers cha
nge over time and we must keep up.
I published a list many years ago for the spares for the general Europa kit
as an example. On my own aircraft, I find every year I must review my par
ts, part numbers (and cost) of normal expendable and time change parts. I
do this at every annual/ inspection interval. I personally keep an updated
list in my laptop and my cell phone's micro SD memory card. I created a fi
le folder that also contains every pdf, word doc, and drawing on every piec
e of equipment as well as countless wiring, service and operational informa
tion or manuals necessary for service, troubleshooting and repair of my par
ticular aircraft.
In order to keep this data available on your computer and smart phone it is
a point and click world of information which is easily downloaded, cut and
inserted into a document to suit your needs (with a considerable amount of
organization time I=92m afraid). I've found this data in my computer and
smart phone to be invaluable. Especially when at the airport or off stati
on with maintenance required. This is especially true for our second hand
owners unfamiliar with maintenance of their aircraft. The information is e
xcellent for troubleshooting, but also for planning the work for an efficie
nt repair.
Best Regards,
Bud Yerly

At our first fuel stop on a long cross country last week, the tire on our m
ono went flat during the roll out after landing on a paved runway. We alway
s carry a new tube with us, but our spare was defective. We use a 7.00-6 6
ply tire on our mono. We tried to use the tire size to find a new tube but
couldn=99t find one. We patched the old tube and returned home. It m
ay help others to know, the correct tube is an AeroClassic Leakguard, part
number GL-70877B and it is in stock at Desser Tire.

Hi William
I was suggesting taking a razor blade or knife and slicing apart both your hoses
and inspecting the inside of the hoses looking for hard restricting buildup.

Nope the inside of the hose is completely clean and unobstructed.
