Hi all, This debate is quite interesting, I am using a 7 Air Trac tyre with 22 psi on a Beringer wheel. I tried pressures around 28 psi but found the extra height made the aircrafts lateral stability or rather lack of it disturbing, especially on hard surfaced runways as the aircraft would teeter from side to side inducing yaw which is unpleasant (mono drivers will know what I mean). My outriggers are standard lengths. Regards, -------- Europa mono Nr 192 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=505573#505573

Bud, Great article on the Europa Flyer regarding doors. I've been struggling with closing the doors in my mono since it started flying last year so when I read the article, and saw the big bold letters stating that you should just pull down on the door, I went outside to give it a try and what a difference! I had been doing a combination of in and down when closing the door but by only pushing the door down by using my inboard hand to squeeze between the door and the door sill it latched without much effort. Of course that means you need to have a somewhat of a strong grip but it sure is easier than what I was trying to do before. Thanks, Chris Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=505574#505574

Fwiw, i appreciate the higher deck deck angle to be able to stall it on, tail slightly first with less of a main wheel drop/bounce. I also enjoy the 4 (on a single side) outrigger clearance to be able to keep flying both off the runway when conditions allow. I guess the side to side teetering is a personal preference/objection :-) John, do you know if the 8 Air Trac can be used on the Beringer wheel? Id love to switch.the stock caliper misalignment and poor wear etc is terrible. Cheers! Chris, On the wide body mode (which I like very much) getting your fingers on that narrow door frame is a pain. In remolding the door thinning area, I mold in a slight depression for a finger grip now. Makes life easier. Thanks Bud, For now, my sill is wide enough to be able to squeeze the door down. But interesting that you bring up the widening mod. I have been really thinking about doing it (I have the parts) since I really don't enjoy having my arm bump against door sill. I think that if I do the mod the airplane could become reasonably confy. Maybe one day we can chat about this further. Best Regards, Chris Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=505577#505577

Hello Pete, please be aware that many here will refer to the 800-6 golf cart tire when you inquire about a 800-6 tire. That tire bears no resemblance to the Airtrac 800-6. The Golf cart 800-6 dimensions varies depending on manufacturer. There have been some who used the Airtrac 800-6 on there Mono, Jos Okhuijsen, David Corbett, Remi G, and others. Remi wrote a article on the Beringer wheel and brake installation on the Mono and felt that it wouldn't work because Beriniger offset the wheel left .125" but I have the Beringer and Airtrac 800-6 4 ply it fits well. It is 1/2" greater dia. than the Airtac 700-6. It has 1/4" clearance on left side and 3/8" on right of Lg. Without a doubt the Mono handles different with air pressure changes, things happen slower at low air pressure. One point regarding the difference between a Airtrac 700-6 6 ply and a Airtrac 800-6 4 ply as it is 1/2" taller and a inch wider it will maintain propeller clearance when on soft ground, with the 700-6 I was sinking in the soft ground once after a rain storm, and almost took out the prop, a 800-6 will have more floatation. Originally Ivan had a 8:50-6 but with no suspension. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=505579#505579

Perfect thx for the detailed info - much appreciated! Im currently very happy with the airtrac 8 @ 23-25psi on tarmac, and would love the beringer upgrade. Thx again! - 1/3? Timthanks for posting about your recent touring in NZthough Im unfamiliar with the cited landmarks, your narrative is very evocative. A few years back as I recall, I intercepted a tailwheel fairing which was enroute to you so I could make a splash mould before sending it on. It worked out just fine Im happy to say and I dont believe Ive properly thanked you for that courtesy. BTWIve always had a soft spot for NZ as Don McKinnon, your former Minister of Foreign Affairs, had been a high school classmate of mine back in D. C. many years ago. Hello all, Well, this week I started on a panel upgrade. I am adding a Garmin G5 a s a backup to my Dynon Skyview as well as a Garmin GPS175 IFR navigator. With the help of my wife I relieved the instrument panel surround to accommodate the G5 (above the gear handle rebate) and relocated constant speed controller (top of the center stack). I will also need to reloc ate the Dynon transponder which was located behind the panel as the navi gator will occupy that space. The transponder will reside under the aft baggage bay. I am also upgrading the coax from RG58 to RG400 for the c omm radio and installing new RG400 for the GPS. I fabricated a couple o f the wiring harnesses and am currently making a mounting bracket for th e G5. The IFR navigator arrived today so I can start work on mounting t he tray to the center stack. Until next week, Erich N28ET Classic Mono 914 ____________________________________________________________ Choose to be safer online. Opt-in to Cyber Safety with NortonLifeLock.
