Thanks Tennent
I think my engine as the longer fuel pump. But thanks for the pointing it out to
me , I am always grateful for advise . I will add a photo later. I did find
it a bit of a struggle fitting the Starboard radiator due fuel pump and the
exhaust bend , which does seem very close ..

The earlier model fuel pumps have pressed together bodies; later are screwed together
and have an oil drain on the underside of the pushrod body; attached picture
is of later model fitted.

Fwiw, updating my fuel pump required getting the rad intake welded to modify its
angle to clear.

79mm is the spacing between the plates of the shock absorber (the rubber block).
It is a condition inspection checklist item.

wrt to the pics, all I can say is i have more clearance in my classic.
also, keep in mind that the engine will move forward slightly with a loaded
prop.

Pete,
Refer to the manual. On XS, you adjust the bolts for the spacing with no load
and a new block. You actually set it up before installing in the plane I think.
As the block compresses with time it will actually get to the point where
the plates dont touch the block when adjusted to 79 mm and no load. With load
the block will work as a shock, but the height of the nose of the plane will
be less. I suppose you could get to the point where there is prop strike danger.
Rule of thumb Ive been told is the top of the tire should be about an inch
below the fuselage.
