Finally threw some rolls of door seal into the truck and went to the field with no idea what the result would be. The original seals were starting to look a bit hagged and the hatches were a little too loose for sufficient service. After removing the old factory seal and cleaning the surfaces with thinners then trial fitting a section of double lip seal an entire side was cut and fitted, and it was a total failure; the door would not latch. So that all got removed. Then the single rib seal was trial fitted and looked promising, so an entire side was done. It was a little challenging to latch the door but it met the situation half way with an interior inspection proving viable. So the other side was fitted and left overnight along with the aircraft baking in the sun for a day. It settled perfectly. A light dusting of talcum powder and a bath and 181 was rolled back into the shed. 07.00 check flight with inflight cheese refreshments tomorrow and then its up for an annual. A51, The original Europa seal was challenging because the door was not easy to close. I struggled with closing until Bud told me to push the door DOWN and not IN. He explained to just grab the door sill and door at the bottom edge were the glass starts with one hand, at the center, and squeeze the door down against the sill. Still a bit challenging but made a world of difference. Chris Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=511009#511009
