Erich thanks. No scientific evidence. My guess was that some engine air would get sucked up into the nosegear hole and past the bulkhead. I wanted to vent this as opposed to it getting sucked into the cabin. Also i wanted to ventilate any posible gas seepage. I get a good breeze in through the naca vents on the cabin sides about knee level. I have a co detector in the cabin which has never alarmed. The cabin exhausts i think through the throttle slot and doors. I have been reading a few article's regarding the properties of cork insulation, light weight, fire resistant, sound absorbing, and thermal insulation properties. I was wondering if others considered it as a choice for aviation sound control? It is used by NASA on the Orion spacecraft and was used on the Space Shuttle fuel tank for thermal insulation.
