Back into 181 Baker Built this week after giving some time over the last month or so to other secret squirrel Drag Bucket and Little Plane projects. Time to orchestrate the panel upgrade after reviewing other's creative europan ideas and spending a solid week 3D modelling up all the flight instruments and moving stuff around to find the ideal position for it all. Some analogue, some glass, some mad professing about ergonomics, redundancy, aesthetics, and real estate preservation and reclamation with a strong emphasis upon the importance of knowing what time it is! Now to buy the missing bits on the shopping list for this year's chrismakah present to self... should be pleasant once all done. Then the upholstery can be addressed! Thanks guys! Pete, all products used come from a small company here in the US called Southern Polyurethanes (SPI). They really specialize on primers (their epoxy primer is fantastic) and clears. If you go to their forums (highly recommended if you want to learn a bit about painting) you will see they specialize on expensive car restorations and they do cater a bit to the experimental aircraft community. The final result does look very good although I must say that these new paints and guns (so called "EPA Compliant") proved to be a huge challenge despite having done a bit of painting in the past. As the owner of SPI told me (yes, you get to talk to him) his compliant paints suck compared to the old days but they are better than the other ones out there and that the learning curve would be long and steep, he was not kidding :) But I can say I learned a lot (not that I am doing something like this again) and if anyone out there is interested I will share the good and bad of it. By the time I painted the last part (cowling) I got good at it. I am particularly proud of the outcome of the cowling seam (pics). I hope it lasts. Hi Area 51 Telling time is important! My wife teaches Honors High School Chemistry. It amazes me that some of her students can't tell time with a analog hands! https://tinyurl.com/3arnjnzh It came with 1 incandescent bulb that did little to illuminate. Ended up making a G11 disc and mounted a bunch of small LEDs that matched our EL Aviation Blue. Balancing light was a bit tricky as the right side would hurt passengers eyes. https://tinyurl.com/y3nyvdyu We too are going with a grayish theme for instrument module. The top and front edge going with a flat flat black. Ron P. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=512419#512419

Impressive CAD work and renderings A51. First, I love my AV-30, you wont be disappointed. Same as you I wanted the round analog gauges look and I'm pleased to have done that. The only thing I think I would consider if I were you is have an electronic engine monitor. I had all the round gauges as you show but switched to a single MGL EMS-1 and I am very happy with it. Super simple, accurate, uses a single small hole and it's very inexpensive. I have found analog engine gauges to sometimes not be the most accurate or reliable. I still have analog engine gages in my LongEZ and I have problems every so often. Very nice work. Chris Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=512422#512422

WOW that looks beautiful! I'd be very proud of that paint job. I'm at that stage were I need to consider paint and would be interested in what path to take. It never even dawned on me that there is a new EPA techniques now...oh boy. I had to do a double take on the N11EU as my Uncle own N111EU. /Kyle -------- Kyle Europa Tri-gear (under construction) Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=512424#512424
