Its called "Aviator's Instant Weather" It's different from all the other weather apps for pilots because it's a zero click program that gives you the translated METARS at your closest airport as soon as you run the app. No tapping, typing or scrolling! Designed by a long time pilot for pilots. Sadly, I had to give up my medical and my beautiful Europa, but I still code, designing pilot-friendly apps. Of course, with one click you can check out the reports from the other nearby airports, or see what's going on at your favorite airports from around the world. At each airport, you can, with one click seen the live, NextGen NWS Aviation Weather map too. This app is available for one low price, no subscription or in-app purchases! In the spirit of /flying, it's free for the next 24 hours! Check it out at: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/aviators-instant-weather/id6473086726 -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=512717#512717 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:01:20 AM PST US From: Rowland Carson Subject: Re: Europa-List: New Weather App Ira - looks nice, but my iPad, iPhone & M1 Mac cannot run it because it insists on the latest OS. I may update the Mac (when I can take time off for the process), but the iPhone and iPad are already as up-to-date as they can be. What aspects of the newest OSes does the app really need? in friendship Rowland > On 2023-12-01, at 14:33, rampil wrote: > > > Free Pilot's Weather App - Limited time offer > > --- Free offer --- > > I've just released a new Aviation Weather App for iOS. I hope you are well! Sorry about the app requiring iOS 17. Current market surveillance on my 26 apps in the store shows me that roughly 90% of current users are already upgraded, and that fraction is climbing. Most of my apps have a minimal requirement of iOS 14, but for this newly written app I chose to use the new Apple programming language called SwiftUI. It was a bit of a struggle to learn and it has more stringent requirements in terms of what it will run on. It has a number of advantages in developing the user interface, supporting different devices and screen sizes with fewer programming errors. I did have a previous generation of the this App in the old Apple language of Objective C which ran on iOS 12, but the National Weather Service data source it used was discontinued, so I removed it from sale and started over. -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=512719#512719 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 09:08:19 AM PST US From: Rowland Carson Subject: Re: Europa-List: Re: New Weather App Ira - thanks for the explanation. I thought it might be something like that. I pretty much gave up trying to program seriously for the Mac after Think C stopped working. I did try to learn a bit about Cocoa, but it seemed every time I was getting a grip there was an update that threw new stuff at me - and then came Xcode . . . . in friendship Rowland > On 2023-12-01, at 16:29, rampil wrote: > > > Hi Rowland! > I hope you are well! > > Sorry about the app requiring iOS 17. > Current market surveillance on my 26 apps in the store > shows me that roughly 90% of current users are already > upgraded, and that fraction is climbing. > > Most of my apps have a minimal requirement of iOS 14, > but for this newly written app I chose to use the new > Apple programming language called SwiftUI.
