Subject: | speed kit Europa Classic |
Hello,
I destroyed two fairings of my sped kit and would need 2 new fairings of
the =9EMonowheel speed kit=9C for my Europa Classic
I would need one of the small fairings for the flap hinge on the
fuselage and one fairing for the most inner flap hinge on the starboard
wing.
does anybody have those 2 fairings for sale?
Thanks,
Klaus (OE-CKD, kit nr. 134)

Jim Butcher asked if I would like to coordinate a New England/Northeast Europa
Fly-In this fall. I responded that I'm happy to do this, but would like to
get a sense for when would be the best time for most people.
We would be meeting on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. The exact airport is open
for discussion, but I would suggest Cape Cod Gateway (HYA), Provincetown (PVC),
Falmouth Airpark (5B6), or Katama Airport (1B2) on Martha's Vineyard.
Please feel free to post your thoughts.

Hi Group
Does anyone have any experience using Expancel from Aircraft Spruce?
I ran out of Expancel from Europa but bought some from Aircraft Spruce years ago.
I don't think they sell it anymore. The Aircraft Spruce stuff seems fluffier
and more Talc like.
Thx.

Is Q cell the same as Expancell? That=99s what I used and have. Glass
beads that=99s like talcum powder. Mix with Aeropoxy as a light weig
ht filler. Can go from creamy to fluffy Deprino how much you add to the Aer
opoxy.=C2-

Just looking at AirNav
HYA looks pretty good, not close to Europa Pastries, typical airport like here
in Midwest, are weekends crazy?
PVC pretty remote, food and lodging not close, maybe a place to fly out to on
Saturday
5B6 narrow runway, winds a problem?, its an airpark, no problem with visitors?
Use their clubhouse, camping?
1B2 only grass (ok for mono tri-gear?) food on site, crowded on weekends?
I'm sort of in favor of 5B6 or 1B2.
Jim

Hi Mike
Expancel is plastic micro balloons and Q-Cel is glass micro balloons. Expancel
is easier on the lungs and sands easier especially if you mix it dry enough. With
Expancel I start with a thin coating of resin, then wait till it gets really
tacky, then apply Expancel that is so dry that it wouldn't stick to a dry surface.
It's just amazing how much more you can add to get to this point. Then
when applying, a heat gun helps things along, I like using spackle tools. I also
like to heat tools as well as Expancel. Best to get it done in 1 shot, so
overfilling even 3/16" or 1/4"too much is better than having to add more fill.
This mixture sands like dense balsa wood. Really goes away quick with 80 grit.
Put breeze to your back and neighbors car downwind (make sure your car isn't
downwind!). If you are low in some areas, if still partial sticky, add some more.
When it cures for a few hours, you can razor trim a bit too. Once cured,
if a lot more is needed in areas, bite bullet, wet, wait till real tacky and refill.
Then you will need to deal with the hard resin layer when sanding and the
not too dense Expancel. Ifonly tiny inperfectionsand slight lowareas, I like
3M Flowable putty. For deeper areas, but not worth it to refill with Resin and
Expancel, I like lightweight Rage. Really dry Expancel is a really light weight
fill. Ron P.
