    From: "fhu" <fhu@gmx.li>
Hi guys I have a problem with my Vary Eze. When I apply brakes after landing and speed goes through about 25 kts the whole aircraft starts to shake. It's not quite a shimmy as I think the shaking starting at the main wheels. I tried to film it today but I couldn't see anything yet. I try to post the films later. Also my tires are well-worn on the inner side. Maybe it's a wheel alignment issue. Any ideas? Thanks for your help -------- Fabian Hummel - Switzerland Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=409760#409760 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/img_4250_120.jpg

I've had the same issue on my Legacy FG. It's caused by movement in the ver tical leg socket. Lancair sells some very thin spacing material to tighten the gap. If you jack up your plane and grab the wheel with both hands you should no t be able to move it side to side. Fabian, The MLG attach may be loose as others are telling you but if shimmy only occurs during braking at certain speeds, the following will probably apply. (I originally learned this from Gary Hertzler.) Applying brakes at certain speeds can excite an oscillation in the main gear if the brake rotors are warped. It is virtually indistinguishable from nose wheel shimmy. When the shimmy occurs, release pressure on the brake pedals and see if the shimmy stops. After 1000 hours the Cleveland rotors on my Long-EZ were too thin to true so I replaced them. It made all the difference in the world. I installed new Rapco rotors -- lower cost than the Clevelands. Of course, your VariEze probably uses different brakes. Nice to see some genuine activity on the Matronics EZ-List instead of the usual anarchy on the Yahoo (appropriately named) C-A list :-) Best, Joe Independence, OR fhu wrote: > > Hi guys > I have a problem with my Vary Eze. Glenn, Wrong airplane your speaking about.. An EZ gear will move back and forth,, It should not move fore and aft. This condition can be caused by brake discs that are not true, a loose main gear, a broken, cracked or damaged gear mount or anything loose in the mounting ears.
