 I have a technical problem on my  left strut where it plugs into the 
trunion; and that is the socket is about .015" too big and I'm trying to figure
out 
which gap tightner to use.  JB Weld or red locktite or ?  Fortunately the other

socket is fine.  Ken Gottschall

Personally, I wouldn't use any liquid "gap reducer" in this area. I suggest 
having the end of the Oleo tube (only the area which fits into the trunion) 
hard chromed and ground back to the proper size. Hard chroming can build up a 
significant, durable, layer which will last forever.

Or... hard chrome the i.d. of the trunion socket and have it cut back to 
size. The trade off is the work it takes to disassemble the Oleo compared to the

hassle it will be to set up the trunion for final machining. It is an odd 
shaped thing and maybe hard to hold on the lathe or mill bed accurately.

Ken,
     Have you heat shrunk the steel reinforcing ring over the trunion socket 
yet?  When I did that, it tightened things up a  bit. Probably not .015, but 
some.  LRE
