Yes, I was able to order the RV fairings direct from Van's. I oil tested them
after I installed them, to gage the eye ball design intersection fairing I
made for our landing gear legs.
The outside of the fairings give classic "text book" laminar flow. The
inside, with my first attempt at a fairing, were terrible. My guess, from the 2D
mapping of the oil, is that I had created a HUGE area of airflow separation.
It took a few iterations with clay to make a fairing that finally held the
air to the fairing for most of the distance, but still not the beautiful flow
the other side gives.
There's more to this aerodynamic stuff that meets the eye.
