After I completed my Glasair2S rudder, fastened the hinge, all the fittings
and counter balanced it, I decided to weigh it. I found my rudder weighed as
much all the total weight of a just assembled RV4 empennage that included the
fin, rudder, elevators, and trim tabs. Has anyone made the tail feathers of
a Glasair out of aluminum like the Cirrus or out of carbon fiber. Just before
Bob Herendeen was killed in a bi plane, he told me that Glasairs were way
over built and he was able to get a lot of weight out of his.
