EAA adviser, Joe Gauthier _N2622@aol.com_ (mailto:N2622@aol.com) reported
a 10 knot speed difference between props of Venture Aircraft.
A friend and I flew our Glasair 2's FT with 200 HP engines side by side
and he pulls away with his McCauley prop. I average 210 MPH and he claims 220
mph. For further information, his name is Monte McClaine and he owns a KR, a
Glasair 2 FT and a Glasair 111. He further humiliated me when we were flying
side by side and reported he was pulling 19 inches to my 22 inches. When he
aplied 22 inches he pulled right away from me. His address is _Montemac@cox_
(mailto:Montemac@cox) . net. My Glasair is the 2S and is wider than the Glasair
2. Monte also uses an engine plenum and the combination of the two may
account for the 10MPH speed difference.
Two other builders up on speed mods are Ken Johnson and Charlie Gray.

Sorry, I misread your message. I can't get a response from
Glasair.org either. Don't know what's going on.

Do any of you Glasair drivers/builders have any idea how much your
cowl weighs? I've just completed a custom cowl and I was wondering
how my handiwork compares to the stock cowl. G2 or G3. Thanks
