Which Hartzell? The newer "blended airfoil?" The model recommended by Glasair? Other? With respect to the G-III: Stoddard-Hamilton published a report of a comparison test of the recommended McCauley and Hartzell propellers. It was in the old factory newsletter. As I recall, there wasn't much difference in overallperformance. Better propellers are available today. Anyone have experience with the new composite props? Thanks, BJC

I recently put in an EIS4000 and am seeing some freightening cylinder head values during climbout [80'F, 2000' density altitude, 1700 lbs. total weight +/-] I think this might be due to the flat air exits on the bottom of the cowling. The plane has no speed or aerodynamic flares around the two exit holes. The tow exhaust pipes exit down and back through these holes. What I am guessing is that I am reducing the effective cross area on the inlets at climb angle and increasing the frontal pressure on the outlets. I am designing in my head a fairing that would smooth the air flow past the exits and pull air out in the airstream. If anyone has pictures or drawings [links?] of how they have managed to smooth the exits, I would be most appreciative were you to share them with me. Comments?
