Ask Bruce to buy it. He must have money to burn and will continue to fly no
matter what the price of 100 LL. And he apparently has the absurd view that
positive thinking will bring down the prices of 100 LL. I started flying in
1956 out of Connecticut airports, Danbury and Bridgeport airports. All of my
life these were vibrant busy airports that have recently turned into relicts.

Almost all the FBO's have closed their doors and both airports air very quiet.
Friday evening my wife and I dined with a couple that are in the oil
business. His wife is an executive for Shell and her husband owns his own oil

exploring corporation. What they both had to say over the dining table was not

pretty. In essence, they both said is that all the easy oil is gone, the
government has ham strung them by not allowing the drilling of oil in Anwar, the

Eastern Gulf, on the mainland and have added to that misery by not allowing the

building of new refineries. And on top of all that, with China and India's
increasing demand, the price will only continue to soar. That is not negative

      thinking, those are the facts.
My wife and I had a planned flight to Seattle this August. The price of
100 LL for the trip would have been around $1,300. So we elected to fly the
airlines for a combined round trip price less than $475.00. I commonly flew my

Glasair 125 hours a year, but I don't like throwing money down an endless pit

and have cut back our flying to less than fifty hours last year.

Now - now - now, wouldn't a personal statement like that better be
handled on a personal level (i.e. off list)?

Get it right Raymond, I don't work for Glasair Aviation. I'm building a GIII
that burns a third more 100LL than your little 4 banger.

When I was in college in 1957, a fully operational Hell Cat fighter sat on a
trailer outside of the lab. Every so often, I would sit inside of the
cockpit and go through the check lists. The gardeners reguarded the plane as a
      pain
because they had to move it every time they mowed the grass and would have
given it to anyone for the asking. When I asked why nobody flew it, he
replied; "Do you know how much fuel this plane burns?" Back then, gas was expensive

and Volkswagens were hitting the American market to save on the cost of gas.

Hey tough guy, I could have built either but the test pilot and Bob Heredeen
talked me out of it. Both felt the GL111 was a death trap and Bob wished he
built a GL 2S FT. I am a seventy year old retiree, were do you get the time?
