The gas springs on the GIII are 50#.? I purchased mine from McMaster-Carr.? The Glasair originals are a hair shorter, but a slight adjustment of the installation hole will make for a perfect fit and $15.00 v. $50.00 option. The gas springs were changed between the GI and GII. ? ? What is the open and closed length of the gas spring....? And, does it fit a Glasair 1 RG with gull wing doors....? Best... Best... Steve From: Craymondw@aol.com Subject: Glasair-List: Re: Hatch Gas Springs The supplier for hatch gas springs is a company named ORR & ORR INC. 3520 South Morgan Street . Chicago, Ill 60609-1524 tel: 773-254-0022. Their part number is FAN119. When you order say it is for your boat. ? When I installed my wear pad I used a strong expoxy glue and a heavy star washer under the screw. I?maintain 60 pounds of air pressure in my nose wheel tire and have no shimmy problems. I have often wondered if the wear pad could be made out of a bearing material or copper, soft?aluminum etc. ? I have found the best source for Glasair?parts and problems are the people at Phoenix Composites. I?regularly coat my hatch seals with talc powder and have had them on for eleven? years and they look as good as new. I have the old style that came with the kit in 1990?
