      Mr. Palmer,
I also have the pilots curse of cataracts. They aren't bad yet, the one
in my right eye is small and the left is a little larger. The only time I
notice it in my left eye is from an on coming car head lights at night or
watching TV in a dark room. The cause has been from ultra vilolet light from flying

for 51 years, racing ocean going sail boats through out my teens, snow
skiing and vacationing on tropical beaches. Anyway, I was able to increase the

speed of my Glasair 2S FT, 200 HP by carefully aligning the wheel pants,
closing up the cooling and servo inlets, carefully fairing in the main and nose

gear at the wing and cowling. I cruise 210mph at 8,500 feet. I flew formation

with a Glasair FT that had a cruise of 222 mph. He ran a McCauley cs prop and

I have a Hartzell cs prop. And he sawed off his wing fairings and reflexed
his flaps 2 degrees. I can't wait to read about the person that uses a Spitfire

type of wing fairing. The predicted increase in speed is suppose to be
great. I toyed with testing the idea by taping an aluminum wing fairing like that

on the fuselage and wing, but worry what would happened if it came loose.
