(Tom Goddard) Thanks for the feedback. I should have mentioned that I've learned to reverse the tires too at about 200 hours. Ours appear to be aligned fairly well. It's the second tread from outboard that tends to wear out first, probably from the way the gear hangs in flight. (That is, the outer third of the tire touches down first.) I have been using this firm for the lifts on my two Mercedes and they cost a fraction of what the dealership and auto parts stores are asking. As far as needing Glasair parts, EAA advisor Joe Gauthia _N22607@aol.com _ (mailto:N22607@aol.com ) can either make you a new one or can refer you to someone that has the machinery . Another source would be Polen racer/builder Dick Kyte or NASA engineer and GL3 driver Chuck Downing _chuckdowning3@yahoo.com_ (mailto:chuckdowning3@yahoo.com) . All three of these men are just a few of the brightest in the experimental movement. In a message dated 4/27/2017 7:32:05 A.M. I use Goodyear flightmate II and wear out the left one about every 150 hours. Then discard the worn one rotate the right to the left and put a new one on the right side. The wheels have good alignment but there is about 1/32 or 1/16 rotational play at the oleo so some minor misalign does happen under load. I have always thought that the torque of T/O requiring big R rudder input is responsible for most of the left tire wear. -----Original Message----- From: owner-glasair-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-glasair-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of mppalmer@aol.com Sent: Monday, April 24, 2017 3:36 PM Subject: Glasair-List: How many landings on your tires? I've noticed over almost 4000 hours that we have to change our tires about every 300 hours. I write down how many landings we make in our logbook, but I've never taken the time to total them between tire changes. But on the assumption that we fly an average flight of 1 hour, that's only 300 landings. Seems awful quick to be going thru tires. (Have have a long runway here and I don't use brakes much.) Wondering what kind of life others are getting? (These are Desser retreads.) Ours is a Glasair II FT, with extended wing tips, no slotted flaps. We "come of the fence" at 70 KIAS. Thanks.
