Hope there's someone out there who can answer this quickly......I have an
opportunity to buy a Scorpion One helicopter, complete and supposedly
runs and has the required upgrades, for $8,000. Can anyone out there tell
me if that's a good deal or not? Or is there someplace else I can check
who knows about these helicopters?

Find out how many hours are on the airframe. They're only rated for 2,000
hours then have to be scrapped.

Supposedly there's only 130 hours on the thing, and from the pics it
looks to be in good shape. But I've never bought one of these before and
$15K or so, but I'm trying to get into one for as little as possible (and

I'm not a helicopter person, but do some web searches for the history on the
Scorpions. I recall some of the early ones have quite a bad safety rep.
Also, I seem to remember that one has to replace the belt that drives the
tail rotor rather frequently, causing the cost per operating hour to
skyrocket.
