Subject: | Re: Oil Pressure Sending unit location |
Rob and all,
I got confirmation from Jabiru that the drawing in the manual is (at best)
misleading and the routing of the oil circuit is as I described. For those
who didn't see the earlier posts, there was confusion as to the sensing
location of the oil sender. It senses the pressure right after the pump and
in some (instrument) setups, this can show-up as pressure fluctuations on
the gauge during normal running. The lower sensing location - just
underneath the electric sender - is at the end of the oil gallery supplying
the bearings. Between those two points (despite being close together) are
the oil cooler, the oil filter and the pressure relief valve. If you want to
sense the oil pressure at the lower point, you will notice a pressure
difference of some 50kPa lower (7 psi) than the standard position, but the
lower position gives a steadier reading and reflects the pressure supplied
to the bearings before the oil returns to the case.
I've asked Jabiru to amend the drawings of the respective oil circuit
schematics in the manuals to make this clearer.

Andy,
Thanks for looking into this. I'm very interested to hear what Jabiru's take
is on this.

Subject: | Instruments for Sale |
I have several instruments that some of the new builders may need. All
are new and still in the original boxes. If interested email me direct
at jimmieblackwell@austin.rr.com or call me at 512 695-6627. Each
instrument has the appropriate connectors, panel attaching hardware,
sensors and senders.
Following are the instruments:
Dual oil temperature and pressure by Westberg, includes sensors and
sendors.
Cylinder Head temperature by Westberg, includes sendor.
Fuel level by Westberg.
Air Path Compass
Airspeed indicator, 0-120mph, by Airwolf
Altimeter
Prefer to sell them altogether. To buy them from Spruce and Air Wolf
would cost over $800. I will take $500 for all them and I will pay for
shipping.
Thank you.
