Hey Andy! Thanks for the advice, I had planned to get the output Rpm on the alternator be fore I leaped off the cliff! I have been Planning to come up your way soon, but you know how that works, Bob. -----Original Message----- From: owner-jabiruengine-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-jabiruengine-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Andy Silvester Sent: Friday, February 29, 2008 2:49 PM Subject: RE: JabiruEngine-List: RE: JabiruEngine-List Digest: 3 Msgs - 02/27/08 <andy@suncoastjabiru.com> Bob, Be careful with any add-on alternator which goes directly on the back of the crankshaft; they are really designed for the accessory pad on LYC/Cont. engines where the rpms are much higher through gearing. If the add-on alternator is rated at (say) 40 amps, ask what rpm that's for, and it'll probably be well over 3000. The Jabiru will be turning mostly between 2700 and 2900 in cruise, but amps will probably drop right off below that. Others here on the list have had success with belt-driven supplementary power, but it's not as simple or as light as a bolt-on job. Hope this helps.
