Be careful with any add-on alternator which goes directly on the back of the
crankshaft; they are really designed for the accessory pad on LYC/Cont.
engines where the rpms are much higher through gearing. If the add-on
alternator is rated at (say) 40 amps, ask what rpm that's for, and it'll
probably be well over 3000. The Jabiru will be turning mostly between 2700
and 2900 in cruise, but amps will probably drop right off below that. Others
here on the list have had success with belt-driven supplementary power, but
it's not as simple or as light as a bolt-on job. Hope this helps.

I got the Odyssey 12Amp battery charger which tops off the battery
automatically without going above 14.7v. I think this charger is great
for the money @ $85 with shipping.
