Thanks Bob, SW and especially Lynn for the washer tip. Do I need to get the tip
of the probe in the middle of the pipe? Because if so, I need around 1/2 inch
of washers to achieve this on my engine? That's quite a lot of washers!

I only put 4 thin washers on each probe...about 1/8" worth. This
didn't center the probe, but got it away from the far side of the pipe.
