I've been toying with the idea of just bringing my plane home from the hangar, pulling the engine, and building the intake manifold right here in my nice, cozy, heated workshop. I could have the plane back home here, the engine out, and on my workbench in less than a day, and be able to operate on it in comfort. I think that's the way to go, what with fall approaching, and chillier weather on its way. You mentioned the SS bends...I found 1-1/2" SS bends at Aircraft Spruce, but not the 1-1/4" which I think the intake tubes are. I haven't done a search for the smaller tubes yet, so I *would* like to have the address for the tubes that you offered, Peter. I'm also wondering why aluminum tubes wouldn't be suitable for the lower ends of the intake tubes. It seems to me like they would work ok. I thought the replacement was a Honda or ? auto engine. Any Help, Thanks, Mike[/b] -------- Mike Miller @ millrml@aol.com 601 XL, 3300, Dynon Remember, "the second mouse gets the cheese"! Al tubes would save weight. I have attached a link to the source of my SS tubes and bends. They are high quality food grade product. Doing the job at home sounds like the way to go; or you could start in the hangar and then decide. I'll have a look around the US first, and if I have to, I'll use your vendor. What I like about doing it at home is the concrete floor....lets the engine hoist roll much easier than the carpeted dirt of the hangar . But you are correct, it would be easier to start at the hangar, and then decide...based on temperature, etc. No reason to fold those wings unless I have to.
