Well, after calling Pete at jab- we pulled the head off and inspected eve
rything. The heads look fine to me. The valve springs function without indi
cating-any sticking.--Looking inside the cylinder-there-are a cou
ple areas of rough spots you can palpate with your finger tips.- We also
found out what was making the noise - so we think --the piston hitting th
e wall of the cylinder.- =0A=0AI did not have time to remove the cylinder
--did not have a tool to access this.- We-are going to the-field i
n-few hours to remove the cylinder-and make another call to Pete. =0A

Hi Michael
-
I believe there were some engines that did not have sufficient piston to bo
re clearance and that produced some sort of noise. The engine I heard of wa
s a early hydraulic lifter one before the camshaft and lifters were altered

assuming I am the Doug you are asking, I dont exactly know what is going
on.
I think the rings are sticking tho. Since the engine has so little time on
it, I wonder if it has been sitting for some time and the assembly lube has
stopped doing its job.
I was wrong about the valve sticking. The head looked perfect.

Just started to repair the engine mount and 7 & 8 should be 0.058" thick but again
they have used only 0.035". Jabiru USA must get on top of this shoddy workmanship
as this is the second engine mount that is not to specifications. The only
reason I could measure the wall thickness was do to it cracking and during
straightening breaking off completely. I now wonder how many under sized Jabiru
engine mounts are out there. Cheers T87

Hey, Doug.. or anyone-else with experience with-dis-assembly.- We spe
