    No increase that I can really attribute to the Electroair ignition, but I installed the ignition during an engine rebuild, so many things were different after I reinstalled the engine. The main reason for the ignition change was to get away from the (in my case) sloppy rotors, and otherwise antiquated distributor-based ignition system. (What modern engine uses distributors these days?) I also wanted to have a system that was capable of advancing the ignition under certain conditions, and retarding the ignition as well. I am currently using the Rotec TBI-40 fuel metering system (Throttle Body Injection), because I also wanted to be able to control the fuel mixture while in flight. Here again, I felt that something a bit more modern than the float-type carburetor was required (or in my case, desired). Some of the changes or decisions that I make are based on boredom...I just need to be doing something different than just flying the plane as it is. : ) Lynn Matteson Kitfox IV Speedster, taildragger Jabiru 2200, #2062, 820.8 hrs Countdown to 1000 hrs~179 to go Sensenich 62"x46" Wood prop Electroair direct-fire ignition system Rotec TBI-40 injection Status: flying (and learning) On Dec 11, 2009, at 2:22 AM, Naftali Horowitz wrote: > Did you get any RPM increase due to the Electroair ignition? > Is it with the Bing or injection? > Thanks, > Naftali > > > From: lynnmatt@jps.net > > Subject: Re: JabiruEngine-List: Bing Carby > > Date: Thu, 3 Dec 2009 18:01:17 -0500 > > To: jabiruengine-list@matronics.com > > > <lynnmatt@jps.net> > > > > I usually see about 2840-2860. > > > > Lynn Matteson > > Kitfox IV Speedster, taildragger > > Jabiru 2200, #2062, 818.9 hrs > > Countdown to 1000 hrs~185 to go > > Sensenich 62"x46" Wood prop > > Electroair direct-fire ignition system > > Rotec TBI-40 injection > > Status: flying (and learning) > > > > > > > > > > > > On Dec 3, 2009, at 10:43 AM, Naftali Horowitz wrote: > > > > > Hi, > > > What static WOT do you get with the 62x46" prop? > > > Thanks, > > > Naftali. > > > > > > > From: lynnmatt@jps.net > > > > Subject: Re: JabiruEngine-List: Bing Carby > > > > Date: Wed, 2 Dec 2009 12:45:00 -0500 > > > > To: jabiruengine-list@matronics.com > > > > > > > <lynnmatt@jps.net> > > > > > > > > Not me. > > > > I had my Bing for 3-1/2 years, and in discussing this matter > with > > > the > > > > folks at Bing, they said there is no test for a bad > diaphragm, just > > > > hold it up to the light and if you can see no pinholes or > cracks, > > > > continue to use it. > > > > And when you stop to think about it, what does two years really > > > mean? > > > > Two years of aging is one thing, two years at 200 hours per > year for > > > > one flier is not like two years of 50 hours per year for > another. > > > > That's why I asked the Bing folks if there was any test that > > > could be > > > > done, rather than just arbitrarily change it. > > > > > > > > Lynn Matteson > > > > Kitfox IV Speedster, taildragger > > > > Jabiru 2200, #2062, 818.9 hrs > > > > Countdown to 1000 hrs~185 to go > > > > Sensenich 62"x46" Wood prop > > > > Electroair direct-fire ignition system > > > > Rotec TBI-40 injection > > > > Status: flying (and learning) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > On Dec 2, 2009, at 12:02 PM, Chuck Deiterich wrote: > > > > > > > > > The "Bing Carburetors Aircraft Tuning and Parts Manual" (2007) > > > > > states that the diaphragm in carb should be replaced every two > > > > > years regardless of hours.
