The Jab engine being a clean one should mean your filter with last Ok. You might have a larger air box, as they have changed them over the years. With my Rotec TBI, when I pull on the "carb heat" the engine actually picks up 40-80 rpm, and the fuel flow meter show a gain in fuel used by about .2-.4 GPH. This could be caused by my particular installation. Be aware that the Sonex-type planes use only an air filter, and no air box with their Jabiru installs, so it must work. If you DO go with the air cleaner only and no air box, how will you deal with the carb heat issue?
